Regards Tom --- "In all of the gauges, we particularly emphasize a high level of quality, the best possible fidelity to the prototype, and absolute precision. You will see that in all of our products." (from Märklin New Items Brochure 2015, page 1) ROFLBTCUTS |

It looks really nice....(very tempting)
Too bad I can't really fit it into my layout.
Hope you enjoy yours, Tom. |

Nice pictures and congratulations. Interesting to see the white lights contrasting with the yellow number sign.
I love the BB, it is an iconic item. I am looking at my BB in the display cases right now, and the models and the prototypes are truly engineering materpieces.

Is it prototypical that the front light is white while the numbers are yellow?

I do not think so. If you think of modern automobile lighting the "white" lighting is very new. Sory, but xeon (white) lighting was not available during the 1940's when BB was running. However for me the question is "What does the lights look from a scale perspective" ? In other words if you were looking at an actual BB running at speed at the same relative distance that you are viewing the model - what would the lighting actually look like. And I believe the answer is the yellowish that people seem to not like. Sometimes we forget the perspective of scale. |

Hopefully, given that you have got yours Tom, that means that mine can't be too far away. I'll certainly add pictures and comments here about how (or if) it runs on my M track layout with R1/R2 curves, bridges and tunnels, when I get it (but I'm guessing that will be a few weeks away).

David - my BB runs without problems (when she is at home - before running off to Germany on a Toot [}:)]!) on R1/R2 C-track. I have no experience wit M-track. |

Thanks for that Hal. I've got a number of curved turnouts, as well as R1 approaches to bridges, as well as tunnels and catenary masts. My BR45 and 28cm coaches all go through them OK, but the BB may or may not be a challenge in that regard. If it doesn't run OK I can always take it to a friends place, he has a C track layout and also the BB from the Marklin Mega Digital Starter set (I can anticipate some double heading going on there..... ) Hal, hope your BB is not too far away.

HO: Congratulations! I have the 4012 37991 and love it. It only comes out of my display case on special occasion since I run European lines on my layout, but I generally run it under the tree at Christmas. Actually it was my first USA Marklin model. My inspiration for buying it was after visiting the real 4012 in Scranton, PA. |

Nice! Interesting to see a new front light!! It will not fit very good with my other Big Boys.
Thanks for the review. My shop hasn´t delievered mine yet. Don´t think they´ve recieved it yet.
"linear speed curve, CV 5 := 28." Should this also be applied to 37991 to get good charastics? Testing now!
Edit: Testrusults: No! Too slow and the sounds go crazy. |
