Keep in mind that the Trix 22043 and 22044 Br44's do not come with a decoder. They have a 21 pin interface into which you plug your decoder of choice.

You could even stick a Lokpilot there for a really cheap BR44.. Once bored, say hi to Loksound and you'd fall in love all over again.. |

Do ESU have a Lopi 3.0 with 21 pin interface?
OK, I see they do - 52614 LokPilot V3.0, multiprotocol decoder (MM/DCC/SX), with 21MTC connector
Was looking on the Eurolokshop site last night, couldn't see them there.

I can't see if the Loksound M4/mfx decoders have a 21 pin interface, and where the order codes for them are, if there is one.

Normally I'm quite found of "öl". Actually, I'm having one right now (a Falcon)... But for some reason, I don't appreciate oil-fueled models (one exception being the BR 10 #37083). And the weathering, as it looks on the pictures above, isn't very impressing. But I'm sure that with the above Zertifikat, this model will reach previously unseen levels on the collectors market. /Torbjörn

Yes I've been wondering about the weathering on these Trix models, whether it is too overdone - I like it to be subtle. There seems to be some differences in the weathering between what is portrayed in the catalog pictures (subtle) and what is in real life pictures (Heavy). You can see some more pictures of the Trix Br44 of Lutz's in the Long Henry thread (https://www.marklin-users.net/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=7150&whichpage=2). I guess I will know for sure when I get them, I couldn't resist, as I effectively got 2 locos for the price of 1 - still have to fit decoders in them though. No doubt I'll post some pictures after receiving them.

So I am also intrigued now about the Trix models. How hard are these to convert to Marklin operation - what needs to be done? I have both add-on sets of lange heinrich but never got the original with the BR44 - very rare and expensive. Getting the right locos for these sets is also hard, since 37883 is now rare and hard to come by too. Since Trix make both versions that are a match for this set, they're cheap AND weathered seems like its too good to be true! Just a shame I'll never have the original 10 ore hoppers from 26536 though:( |

Easy, so long as you don't mind the DC wheelsets. This is basically the same model as Marklin ones. You really need just to slap in the clip-on pickup shoe piece in place of the Trix's wheel DC pickup. Also watch if there is any secondary power pickup on the Trix model - this needs to be disconnected. The Trix model already got 4 traction tyres too similar like the Marklin model - so pulling power should be ok. |

You also need to install a decoder of your choice that has a 21MTC interface.
I'm not sure if there are any wires that need to be joined together to connect both wheelsets to the Marklin common earth (brown).

My guess would be to use the same shoe as for the other Br44 locos in the Marklin range. So, for 37889, the pickup shoe is item no 206370.
