Inspired by your post, I revisited the Rio Tinto tourist railway in Spain several weeks ago.

Further to my Tehachapi Loop videos in post 103: Westbound BNSF train...

...followed by an eastbound BNSF train which met the eastbound train in the Woodford siding below the loop.

And these images conclude the journey from the RR point of view.

In Kingsman, not far from the old ATSF main line, there are an old ATSF steam locomotive and a caboose.

One hour south of Hamburg in Germany is the station in Hützel on the single track Lüneburg-Soltau line.
IMG_8288.jpg
The transport of agricultural goods and containers feeds freight traffic with occasional rail fan passenger train run in summer.

From December 2027, passenger services will be running on the line again, but the trains will not stop in Hützel.

Very picturesque Ak. Quite a large and fancy station, I love the old style rake boards. Is Hutzel known for anything in particular?

Nothing special except that it is located in the Südheide Nature Park ("Southern Heath Nature Park"), a large protected area of forest and heathland in the southern part of the Lüneburg Heath in North Germany.

Eastbound ICE train crossing the Alster lake bridge before entering Hamburg Central Station (out of sight), as seen from the Jungfernstieg dock.

Further upstream from the Alster lakes, the electrified, single-track northern bypass of the Hamburg freight railroad crosses the Alster, the straightened course of which is known as the “Alsterstreek”.

Ganzlin station on the Meyenburg-Güstrow branch line in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is mainly a layover yard for freight wagons, which occasionally sees passenger traffic at weekends.
Ganzlin1.jpeg
Semaphore exit signals are visible at a distance.
Waren4.jpeg
The yard is very crowded.
Ganzlin2.jpg
And I have seen this type of car before. It is ownd by the French operator "Touax".
Waren5.jpg

In Germany, cars are supposed to be parked until a checkered Ra 12 boundary marker. Cars which are parked beyond this signal may reach into the loading gauge of a neighbouring track. This signal is usually mounted next to a point or railway crossing. So much for the theory, now for the practice - see below.

Kind of reminded me of the discussions that take place on this forum from time to time about the correct gradient design for miniature trains. RollEyes

Waren (Müritz) station in the town of the same name is a railroad junction in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The railroad lines Neustrelitz-Warnemünde, Parchim-Neubrandenburg (Mecklenburg Southern Railway) and the connection to Malchin, which was closed in 1998, meet here.

By the mid-1970s, parts of the roundhouse had been demolished and the facilities completely converted to diesel traction. Below map reflects the situation in 1940.

Some background information (own translation): Hamburg Railservice: Takeover of D & D Eisenbahngesellschaft from Hagenow

Hamburger Railservice GmbH and Adem Gülaz Vermögensverwaltungs GmbH are taking over D & D Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH in Hagenow Land, including its locomotives, from the Dehns family and their Vermögensverwaltungs GbR, who are retiring for reasons of age, as well as the Hagenow Land railroad depot on 01.05.2024.
D & D Eisenbahngesellschaft was founded in 1996 by Dörte Dehns and was approved as one of the first railroad undertakings for Free Open Excess in Germany in 2000 after Dipl. Ing. Christian Dehns joined the company. Countless court cases against DB Netz AG and other infrastructure operators, initially alone, then together with the lobby association “Die Güterbahnen” (then “Netzwerk Privatbahnen”), which was co-founded by Christian Dehns and now has over 80 members, formed the basis for the access to the infrastructure of DB Netz AG (now DB Infra Go) and many non-federally owned railroads that is taken for granted today.
In addition to work and construction train services, D & D Eisenbahngesellschaft was one of the first rail companies to take over container services from the Port of Hamburg and was the first private rail company to shunt independently in the Port of Hamburg. Later, the company concentrated on grain and log transports. Since the outbreak of the corona pandemic, the company has focused primarily on work and construction train transports as well as the transfer of construction machinery. Dörte and Christian Dehns are particularly proud of the fact that several employees have been with the company for over 20 years and that there have been no significant accidents during the entire existence of the company.
HRS has not only made a name for itself in the freight transportation sector, but is also known as a renowned service provider in the rail industry. With today's takeover in this segment, it is expanding its portfolio considerably and consolidating its position as an integrated provider in rail operations. The Hagenow Land site in particular is the focus of this expansion. In recent years, considerable sums have already been invested in the renewal and modernization of the tracks, turntable, engine shed and office infrastructure.
The expansion of the Hagenow Land site into a service station for the HRS Group's locomotives and freight wagons is another milestone in the company's history. With state-of-the-art facilities and a dedicated team, a central hub is being created here to ensure smooth maintenance and servicing of the vehicles. These extensive measures ensure that the site is not only state-of-the-art, but also meets the highest standards of efficiency and sustainability. This strategic decision underlines HRS's ambition to offer its customers not only first-class services and transport solutions, but also to guarantee outstanding service along the entire value chain.
Dörte and Christian Dehns will continue to advise the company for another 5 years to ensure a smooth transition and sustainable development.
