Please don't post in all capitals, this is the Internet equivalent of SHOUTING at people.

I'm ignoring the SHOUTINESS.

But LOL!

Following the link reveals a graphic! Depicting the island-continent of Erstralyer next to the word 'Marklin'.

Like, WTF?

(with all due respect, most spruikers do shout....)

Hmm, could do with better descriptions. Clearly the auctioneers do not know Marklin, there are parts of a King Ludwig set spread across at least three lots.

There are a handful of lots which have pictures from other lots in them, so make sure that you are viewing the correct pictures. Thankfully in most cases there is a label with the lot number of the picture which helps to settle some confusion.

TYep, it's a lot, and some items are wrapped in paper which you can't see unless there are duplicates.

Some nice things here. I need to research and see what I like. A lot of items to try and bid on though. Might be better if spread out.

So, the auction is now over and it was quite an experience!
This was my first one & i was doing this for myself (aka not for eBay reselling).
After reviewing the 320 lots, I decided to bid on 144 and divided my bids into 4 categories (Must have, Would like to have, Nice to have & Only if cheap enough).
I created a big spreadsheet to organize everything and most importantly... try to guess what the budget was based on what I was willing to pay for each item in case i won everything (and ask my wife for forgiveness...).

I started entering my bids about 30 minutes before the start, but estimated the time wrong and some lots closed before I was done.
I missed the beginning and was quickly outbid a lost a few early items before I figured out the dynamic of this whole thing.
Having each lot closing in sequential order every 30 seconds means that you are effectively surfing a "wave" of 5-6 active bids and staying on top of everything going on was a challenge! Lots of clicking back-and-forth to refresh and see the status.
After about 2 hours, I was drained and had no clear idea what I won and how much I spent in total...

After a beer, I totaled the damage and realized that I won 77 bids out of the 144 that I had chosen (I will keep the $$ amount to myself...)
Next step was then to drive 9 hours to Ohio to pick-up the whole thing, and glad that I took my old Sienna 2006 minivan as all the rear space was needed and full of goodies.
There I met with Jennifer who was extremely nice in helping checking the various lots and provided some background information about the original estate owner (Steve Cramer). He was an avid Marklin collector who bought most of his stuff from eBay (some invoices are still in the boxes).
He has no direct heir nor close family, so he probably spent most of his retirement in building this collection and based on "He who dies with the most toys wins"... then Steve you definitely won!!

Anybody else got lucky??

Somehow I doubt it....

You never met Tim Fairhall!

Hi Ben, I was probably bidding against you on a couple items, lots 99 and 117. But I'm happy with what I won. Still waiting on shipping to get them.

Roger

Hi Roger,

I had the lot 99 (red arrow) in sight and my original bid was very low as I got one already (not as nice as that one though!), so I was not pushing this one up - glad that you got it!
I had the 117 as well but did not like the freight wagons in the lot, so same story as above - I think I did $75 and did not increase.
