The AC/DC set made me wonder what others had for a sound system in the Train Room.

Mine is all from about the 2005 era - Sonos has not made it to the basement.

It starts with a Pioneer Receiver and even a CD Player. Bluetooth and other inputs are also used. Underneath the layout is a Velodyne Subwoofer. Also underneath are a pair of PSB speakers. Up top are a pair of Bose 201's.

What gets played is pretty varied but all rock and electronica. Classics like Zep, Stones and Who. Harder stuff like AC/DC, Motorhead, Sabbath, Metallica. More progressive like Rush, Yes and Tool. Some semi industrial NIN and Rammestein. And some electronica Depeche Mode, Ladytron and Goldfrapp.

And there are quite a few boxes under the layout that the system needs to fight for space!!

I can listen to my music in the basement from played just up the stairs at about 25% volume gain with my Bose AM-5 series II Acoustimas sub woofer and 4 cube aray wall mounted near the cieling. Or my basement dersktop computer with Altec/Lansing sub and mid/tweeter arrays, Siruis, or YouTube.

I always have YouTube going in the background. Usually some history podcast, or a channel that has Marklin like the 3rd rail, or Marklin of Sweden.
