Expert advice needed for advance work configuring my Steam locos max cards. Firstly, I do not want to bore anyone, so please skip if this is no interest to you!
Since moving from DCC to märklin, I have had serveral digital issues with sound and even smoke operation on different units. For months, I have tried Märklin technical, and had no reply’s to several requests. I have tried YouTube, there I have received several recommendations, but Translation has clouded my needs. The forum here has been helpful, but I don’t seem to be able to clearly ask were I need help, so, I am going to try again, as this issue is spoiling my enjoyment, plus there must be others finding some of the issues.
Basically, just need to know the best way to reset my digital card to the settings my locos where supplied with. What equipment I need to purchase and where from, if I reset in the setup screen on my CS3 does it clear all data or does it do a factory reset for the loco it is installed in. I try to re configure my individual sound and smoke slots in advance configuration. But nothing happens. If any kind person out there knows who to contact regarding assistance in rectifying or devices to re-install the files I will be so grateful. If there are any published books etc. available in English or as a PDF again Wow! I will try to translate this post, but I cannot always do it.
PLEASE REMEMBER I AM EXPERINCED WITH DCC, BUT TOTALLY LOST WITH MFX.
I think all the data is still on my digital card, but as said earlier I have the individual downloaded files. Being 75 taking my locos apart is difficult for me as my eye sight is not as good as it was.
WELL YOU SHOULD BE BORD WITH THIS BY NOW, THANKS FOR READING…………..

Tony

Probably good to clarify a couple of things first;
When you talk about the "digital card" do you mean the decoder inside the lok or the credit card style cards M* once upon a time provided to save lok data on for the controller?
Also are you talking about resetting M* loks or DCC loks from other manufactures?

Regards
Jean-Pierre

The manual Marklin 03093 is available and I think in different languages and the pdf manual CS3plus is downloadable from the Marklin website. There are a number of instructional videos on YouTube. You indicate an address in England but English is not your language?
Changing the settings on Marklin locos with a CS3 is fairly easy but I have found having the loco on a programming track is required for most of them. I am even older than you and agree that taking a loco apart is becoming more difficult.
Marklin has made it easy to change many of the functions available with a mfx loco. Not sure what you would change about the smoke and do not believe much is changeable on it. But then I have never tried.

iI am also older than you. I am not sure about the problem you have. With MFX a loco registers iteself and locos come new ready to run once registered. I dont use smoke but many on here do so should be able to help. IF you could give the Marklin number of your steam loco and what you want to do with it other than the MFX setup out of the box that would be good.
Spent many great holidays in Cromer a long time ago.

Tony. Have we been any help. Having started a post it is good if you could come back and either say all is well or look for further comment.
