Amazing collection of pre-digital, mostly Marklin, all boxed, plenty of Crocodiles, boxed C track etc.
Some HOe, Gauge 1 and Z and a couple of rare items including original Northlander, Heinzl trams ...
A scattering of Fulgurex, Primex (incl 2701 Orient Express) Fleischmann, Rowa, Roco, Liliput etc
I spied at least one digital item.

I registered on the site, but there are four problems. Actually, there are five, but the last one is a minor security risk so I won't elaborate.
1. They ask for your credit card details upon registration. This suggests that they are storing this information on their website or a related site. In my opinion, this is an unsafe practice.
2. They don't appear to offer PayPal or some other safer payment option. I did not get past the registration process, so I can't be certain of this one.
3. Shipping is your problem. There are a lot of things out of your control here and many things that might go wrong if you are unable to pick up the item yourself.
4. The site is missing a way to delete your account. I had to fill in a contact form to get my half finished account removed from the site. I don't expect a response to this one until next week.
It is a pity as there were some nice items of interest for me. |

It is a pity as there were some nice items of interest for me. Hi Adrian I'm new to this auction house, but their practices are standard procedure. I have no doubt they are a reputable firm with an honourable track record and plenty of satisfied customers. Bank details are requested by auctioneers because a winning bid is binding. Most auctioneers outsource packing and transport, and I can recommend Pack & Send amongst others. I am confident that the bidding process is safe and secure. Yes lots of different brands and plenty of digital stuff, well worth a look!
Some items the price estimate doesn't seem to take into account the condition though. One item I looked at was clearly stored in high humidity and was covered in rust.
Some estimates are ridiculously high, way more than new price Ie. $150-$250 for a single Brawa prussian express wagon. |

I guess there's a base charge to take even a small item from A to B, with price increasing according to weight and size. If items are already boxed, some protection is already provided. I created an account and bid on some items. Now I cannot login again. I proceed to the 2fa page which I pass but it just sits back on the main page with a loading cursor for a few seconds and nothing happens...
edit: I tried logging in again now and it didn't require 2fa and logged me in immediately... not sure whats happened there.
edit2: how long does it take for bids to be accepted instead of pending? It's been a day... |

I received an email from the auction house (timed at 6:01 this morning!!!) asking for the ID verification. I had actually sent them an email on the 18th (i.e. 2 days ago) when I registered but apparently they didn't match tat to the registration. Lets hope they get that sorted today as all of my bids are showing as 'pending'..
Also I can't log in via the Brave browser. The screen flashes for a second and then goes back to the initial screen. Chrome is OK so Brave must be blocking something that it thinks is a ad. (Not had this problem with any other site I've gone to.)

I've received same message, sent them my drivers licence and they replied they haven't received an attachment, so I've sent it again, will see if they received it this time., apparently its the company policy to ask for an ID with all new customers. John |

I've registered with them now and yes it needed additional identity info. All seems to be working ok - I'm using the Chrome browser. Good luck to everyone! The items I'm wanting to bid on are all labelled "new" so hopefully they've been stored ok.

Its not going well, received an email from the Auctioneer, my bidding has been approved but they don't pack or send items, there are carriers available for furniture's etc. all items have to be picked up from the Auctioneer., most items I've looked at with biddings the reserve price hasn't been met,
530 items are offered, I have put in 12 bids (excepted) and other 41 bids have been excepted (reserve price met), so far 53 items have been excepted out of 530 items,
hopefully my brother can attend the auction on the 26th Nov. 2024

Out of interest (and FYI for others) I wrote to the Pack and Send people at the email provided by Vickers and Hoad to see what is needed form their end (advance warning etc....).
The reply I received is:

Invoice from Vickers & Hoad to review.
Smaller items typically fall into the $100-$150 price bracket and any
larger items can fall into a $300-$400 price bracket.
These are inclusive of collection fees from the auction house, packaging
for transit and freight charges to your location.
Let us know if you're happy to proceed if you win your lots.
```
BTW I live in Melbourne.
Still, if they can't move until they see the invoice I assume they can move fairly quickly once they have that (given the tight deadlines that V&H specify).
I guess I won't know the actual cost until they can provide the quote but I must admit that even the 'smaller item' price seems quite high.

The auctioneers fees are 24% + 5% + GST and then packing fees on top so the items your are buying will have to be bid accordingly.

I just received the invoice and noted their statement that they do not pack and send!
It is up to us to somehow organise that service.
Just wondering if anyone else in Brisbane won some items - it might be worthwhile getting our items all sent up here together?

I was fortunate to pick up 4 items. Happy with the prices. A couple of items went above my limit. Luckily I live within driving distance of the auction so hopefully can pick them up directly. Fingers crossed the items (listed as unused) are in good condition.
I’m not a fan of auctions but being able to put in your maximum bid and have the app bid incrementally up to that max made the process far less stressful than I imagined.

I just found out my postage is over A$ 100.00 for a parcel that weighs less than 500g and its measurements are 200mm x100mm x 100mm, I'm trying to find another transport company, Australia Post charges A$ 10.80

John See my post #21 above. I suppose their justification is that much of what they need to do (and I'm guessing that it is 1) have someone physically go to pick up the items; 2) have someone pack the items; 3) have someone take them to the courier OR pay the premium for the courier to pick them up; 4) pay the courier charges) have very little to do with the size/weight of the items, but rather paying for someone's time (even at minimum wage). Plus their overheads. Of course, they could save themselves money by picking up multiple items at the same time - but that would just mean extra profit! Susan

Hi Susan,
I was successful with bidding for four items. Three of them were listed as "unused" but two of them were indeed used (dusty and with the slider indicating a fair bit of use). I'm not too worried about that fact as the items run well and are otherwise in perfect condition. The auctioneers were good to deal with and the pick up was straightforward. The place was full of old furniture, paintings and clocks etc. so I'm not surprised that they were unable to ascertain the new or used status of model trains as I doubt they have much to do with them.
The bidding process took a while to figure out and I'm certainly inexperienced in the process. However you could put in your maximum bid and the auction would only increase your bid from the current high bid in increments until either you were outbid or the time ran out. I.e for the Blue Glass Train (37580) I put in my maximum bid of $240 but I actually got it for $160 as it appears no-one else so bidding strongly on that item.
