Hello, this is a request to fix a couple of configuration points in mapping the mix card for the Märklin 38201 loco. I was Mapping, when the electric supply at home went down. It lasted over two hours. I had several mess ups, but fixed them. However, two are still outstanding. First, my engine noise seems to have been lost the “braking sound” and secondly the “Drvers cab light is blank. I have asked Märklin customer service, no reply, several YouTube channels without any look. What I need is a kind person that owns this loco and users the CS3, to photograph the screen images for these mapping configurations. There are so many computations that it is really frustrating trying all the different sequences. If anyone can help my, I would be so very grateful. Tony

Have you tried resetting the decoder to factory settings (writing 8 to CV 8)? |

Hello and thanks for the reply. I haven’t tried the reset, because I have been afraid of loosing all the sounds etc., as you do with ESU Locksound. Because, the response from Märklin has been zero, I am concerned if it clears all the data, I will have to return it to Germany. As late this has been a nightmare as customs charge me each time. Thank you again, best regards Tony

Hello Tony,
Where do you live? I’m in the Knutsford area, and could probably help with this.

Hello Nigel Thanks for the offer, but I live in Norfolk, near Cromer. It’s a bit far for you and not an easy journey. I do welcome the offer, but I think it is unfair on you. I know how to enter the data, it’s just the loads of permutations that there are, that why I am looking for photos of the CS3 screens. Thanks again Nigel

You could do a factory reset which should restore the decoder to all the factory settings. But I would first try to locate which CVs control the two functions you want to activate and confirm that they are turned on. Also, since the braking squeal is tied to the braking delay and the speed of the loco when stopped or slowed I would also confirm that the braking delay function is set properly. Try both extremes 0-255.

Take up Nigels offer and he should be able to sort you out.

Hello and thank you for the info. The mdccodertool3, seems to be the answer, if I can’t get the file info I need. I found the item on the Märklin shop site. I have read the PDF manual, but can’t see how I link it to my loco without taking it apart. That’s a job, I hate. I’m okay with software, but hardware, I am clumsy. The easiest solution for me is just knowing what to enter in the file boxes, in the CS3 configuration page. Thank you again…… I am very greatful…….regards Anthony
