I was part of the group meeting at the Time Machine until 2006/2007. The my job got in the way and the Marklin trains were put up. I retired about 11 years ago and the grandkids are now 11 and 9. I broke out some of my marklin trains to show, teach and play with them. Two weeks ago I took them to the Time Machine for their first visit. They wanted to see the trains and the rest of the store. Boy was I disappointed when I took them upstairs and all of the trains were gone. At least they still have the train layout running but they do not sell anything anymore. I guess when Bob retired it all went downhill. Does anyone know when they got out of the business? I cannot find anyone in Ct that carries Marklin trains. I was glad to find that both Ajckids and rjftrains are still in business. Boy has the technology improved over the last twenty years. Love the CS3, I broke out my CS1 before the CS3 arrived, a welcome upgrade (of course I loved the CS1 when it came out). I got one of the 2024 locomotives, GE ES44AC, which has a lot more functions than my older ones and a much improved smoke unit, factory installed.
I cannot believe how much I forgot over the last twenty years. It is like I am just starting out and having to learn about everything again.

Great! I moved up from the 6021 to the MS 2 and CS 3 plus, so I get it. I attended a seminar on the CS 1 by Dr Catherall back in 2005. It was too expensive for me then. I think many were disappointed in it, and the CS 2 was a welcome improvement. Glad I waited to re enter the hobby, but it was really budget restraints.

Hi Paul,
Welcome to the forum. You may want to look into joining the ETE.org (European Train Enthusiasts club). The Eastern New England chapter has members in CT and throughout New England. The club is very active and displays its layout at many regional train shows. Many members run Marklin equipment and are a good resource for information.

I have been a member of ETE-ENE for at least six years and have enjoyed it. The club has a large layout which it displays at various shows mostly in Massachusetts. If you are interested the next show is at the Shriners' Auditorium in Wilmington Mass. Nov. 16-17. Then it will be in Marlborough Mass. Dec 7-8. The club's main layout is digitized AC with a CS3 and CS2 slave. It is 17' X 34'. The club also has a DCC layout and a kid's layout both of which are often also displayed. Members are always on hand to answer questions.

Roger, thanks for the recommendation. Just realized I was a member ETE from 2004-2007 and went through my saved magazines and found the ETE Express issues from back then. Will also rejoin the Marklin Digital Club. My guess is Dr. Tom Catherall has retired from writing the newsletter. Lots of things to remember and to learn new things. Love being able to have the layout on the CS3 sent to my laptop and control all the turnout there. No more wires running all around with the new decoders mounted in the turnouts.

I had to do some research but the largest model train show in the Northeast is scheduled on Jan. 25-26 at The Big E in Springfield Mass. Our club usually has three or more layouts and last year Marklin also had a booth. There are also a number of Marklin vendors usually at the show.

I am planning on going to the next one in January, it is about 30 minutes from where I live. Hopefully the grandkids will be able to go with me, their dad has them that weekend and he is a PIA at times. Really looking forward to seeing the show again, I heard it has grown a lot over the years.

Paul Unfortunately Tom Catherall passed away some years ago, and the newsletter went into recession. However the newsletter has been revived and is again published. Others will give you the details to subscribe to it.

Paul Unfortunately Tom Catherall passed away some years ago, and the newsletter went into recession. However the newsletter has been revived and is again published. Others will give you the details to subscribe to it. Very sorry to hear he passed away. He always took a phone call and fixed a number of things under warranty for me, in fact he did the CS1 upgrade to V2 for me.
