Hello all, For the first time, I took a break from scratch building and tried my hands on the following kits: - faller 130708 set of 3 residential buildings
- faller 190063, set of 4 old town houses
- Vollmer 43811, a corner building
- Faller 130138, a corner building with tattoo studio
- Faller 190077, Römerberg-Ostzeile, set of 6 buildings (4 built and two in progress)
- Kibri 39452, 3 bay round house. I'm yet to start building this
I took a break from my work and built all these buildings. I used synthetic glue and PVA for very few parts to stick the parts. It was a great learning experience and a fun filled one. When I compare my scratch built structures with these, in "most" of the cases, my approximation was very close to H0 scale. Just a side note on Kibri in the above list. Few years back, I read this lovely post on using a 3 bay round house without using a turntable. That is exactly what I'm going to try. Here is the link: roundhouse without turntableHere are few pics from my last 30 days of kitbashing

Very nice! I have yet to build the 190077 set, but I'm looking forward to it. I just ordered the 190063 set to go with them... construction should begin after the holidays.

If you don't mind me asking, what type of glue/adhesive did you use to attach the paper signs to the plastic models. I have built two Vollmer Kits, but have not attached the signs as I am not sure what is best to use that will not bleed through and discolor the signs which come on somewhat glossy paper. Thanks, Tim

For me, I've found scanning the images, then printing them onto adhesive paper works well: they're easy to remove if needed, and you'll always have a digital copy.

Hello Tim, I use a very thin layer of PVA (Elmer glue in the US?) to stick these signs (decorations). As PVA is water soluble, it is very easy to remove\replace the signs by applying a thin layer of water. Regards Madhu

I like the Faller Goethstrasse series. This one has a roof patio yes? I have the corner one with the floral shop. It was reduced on clearance from a shop in the early 90s. Also a Pola ho corner 4 story with a pub, Also a Hexenloche mill, and a Pola frisiuer salon. I grouped the 3 on a city block and it forms a courtyard in the back. The salon adjoins the St. Martin's clock tower of Freiburg im Bursigau. So not individually kit bashed, but the scene is.

Yes, every hand and leg separate Nice job. I hadn't appreciated that Preiser made 'assemblable' figures until I came across some that someone was assembling and painting at the club I attend locally. Would certainly make forming figure variations easier.
