Hi
Was just wondering if anyone knows if Marklin is still on track to release the Northlander this month as shown on their website? I’ve seen a few dealers saying 3rd quarter of this year. I currently have my dealer holding another order to ship when the Northlander arrives but if it’s not going to be released before the 3rd quarter, might just have my dealer ship the other order.
Thanks Mike

Thanks Mike Don't know where the dealers are getting Q3 from, unless they believe the delivery will slip, but the lieferterme shows May 2024.

I know at least the Trix units have landed at Marklin USA. Not sure about the marklin-branded ones though |

There was a new video on Facebook showing the paint process etc, since that was just posted over the last couple days I’m thinking the Marklin version is not ready yet. I wish it would be cause my dealer has arranged with Marklin USA to ship the CS3 I have on order and the Northlander together when it arrives.

Has the Northlander actually shown up in Canada or the USA yet? I am excited that M decided to update their advertising for the unit, reflecting now where it actually operated in Northern Ontario. The original advertising had the background as the mountains in the Bow Valley in Alberta between Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise about 2500 km away from where it actually operated. Plus there are no significant mountains in northern Ontario. I always thought this was pretty funny. Sure be cool to complete my TEE Ram and Northlander collection. This would capture all of them…. I think the big item to look forward to is the DDR VT 18.16 (ab 1970: Baureihe 175, „Bauart Görlitz) in spring 2025, which was already in the Maerklin Magazin |

My Northlander has not arrived yet, but I don't really expect it until this Fall. It is better to be surprised than disappointed. I wasn't aware of the VT 18.16 but it looks a lot like my much loved VT 11.5. That will definitely be something to look forward to. |

I'm still waiting on mine too, the last time I talked with my dealer which was at the end of the second week in July, he said that Marklin USA was expecting a shipment from Germany last week but there was no word if the Northlander would be part of that shipment. The worst part is always the waiting and considering the price of the set, that says a lot about the pain of waiting.

For anyone that has their Northlander on order from a dealer in the USA or Canada, I just heard back from my dealer about the shipment Marklin USA received last week from Germany and it only contained the Trix version so it looks like it will be a while longer for the Marklin version.

I've seen pictures of 39705 in a Danish Facebook group. Posted 8th July. The box is looking just like 39706 with a picture on the train. Probably there are different batches. I've not got no notifications but I ordered it pretty late as it took almost a month to receive my Märklin Magazine and the order copoun. |

Thats 8 Weeks later after delivery to Germany dealers (May). So I guess the Marklin version will not be arrive in USA/Canada until end August or around in September. |

I haven't heard anything about mine, but that is not a surprise. My Insider 103 didn't arrive until early December! There was a plus side too, because by the time they built mine they had figured out how to make windshields that fit the body. |

Steventrain, I think you are right on about end of August or sometime in September, I'm thinking more like mid Sept. There is another dealer that I buy from in Canada and they are saying 3rd quarter for delivery, based on my previous orders with that dealer, they have been quite accurate with their ETA's.

My dealer just was in contact with Marklin USA today and here is what he said of their response: They did reply already. Unfortunately, they do not have “absolute” information. However, they expect that the Marklin version will be shipped by air. Hence, we may see it here in 2-4 weeks (my best guesstimate). Based on this, I'm anticipating end of August perhaps even Sept at least for those of us in Canada.

You've all been patiently waiting for the model.I hope that it's not much longer. Logistics are complicated. Air is usually faster. Some parcels can sit in freight storage for some time before loaded onto planes and ships. The best route from Germany to the USA is from Bremerhaven. I don't know if the Baltimore harbor is still having delays but it reopened in early July after the container ship hit the Francis Scott Key bridge. There are other eastern ports. Newark, Charleston, Miami.

I would expect the 39705 to be in the next shipment heading for North America. It may have already departed Germany or it may be departing at start of August. Duration of travel depends on the means of shipping and the availability of space in mail/other container. IDK if a shipment would consist of a full container or more likely a pallet or two.

Problem is it’s not in the US or Canada, by rights it should have come to Canada first because it was our train. Honestly, I’m glad what was left of the Northlander/TEE made it back to Europe to be restored. Didn’t actually know there are still 2 cars in existence from the Northlander in Canada, breaks my heart to see what’s become of them. Biggest problem with Canada, we don’t preserve history. Mike

Mike We kept at least one LRC powerhead. Hopefully the Museum in Candiac will eventually get coaches to go with it. The Turbo IMHO is the one that should have been preserved. I am not aware whether any of them are still around. Definitely not in workable condition. The powerheads of the Northlander did not fare well in the winter and were taken out of service early and replaced by regular locomotives (F7/F9) They were scrapped while the train was still in operation and it was years later that the remaining coach sets were taken out of service. At the time when the powerheads were scrapped, there was no interest in Switzerland or Holland in taking back just the powerheads as Ontario Northland intended to continue to use the rest of the consists. Maybe one day we will see something like this: Retusche nach einem Originalfoto mit freundlicher Genehmigung der Fa. Roco/ Modelleisenbahn Holding GmbH/ Mit freundlicher Genehmigung der Fa. Gebr. Märklin & Cie. GmbH I have got permission to show this by Christian H. TEE Classic must find a locomotive which is easy to maintain. Another loco instead of a Nohab could be a BR 218. |

Personally, I think the engine from the second picture looks better as it’s closer to the original, but still not as nice as the original.

If they are going to put a new powerhead on the train, maybe this could serve as a basis: http://www.railfaneurope...I/yellow/130-152/149.jpgIf not, they have more than one pilot coach, so they could actually mount an original front end from one of the pilot coaches onto whatever unit they decide to use as traction so that it ends up with a symmetrical appearance. Are they still planning to get the train running again? I thought that was TEE Classics plan, but is that still the plan of the Netherlands Transportation museum?
Coming back to the Marklin version, mine still hasn’t made an appearance, has anyone who ordered from a North American dealer received theirs yet?

[Coming back to the Marklin version, mine still hasn’t made an appearance, has anyone who ordered from a North American dealer received theirs yet? well, no answers about this so I presume nobody in Nth America still has any news. Strange because at least one dealer in Australia had a delivery more than a week ago. Most annoying since I ordered mine from a USA dealer (cheaper than in Australia) but still waiting ............ Sorry, looked at it on a small screen and it looked like everything was in a box, guess it was a little deceiving since the thumbnails were sideways. Didn’t see the Stack of Northlanders were on a counter with a wall behind. This gives me hope that maybe mine will show up this week.
