Hi
Power Supply: you are using a Märklin 60061 which is an excellent solution (way better than a transformer)
How to connect to internet? Simply plug into the CS2, a CAT5 cable (Ethernet cable) to your Internet / TV box.
The CS2 knows whicg number to call BUT will seek your approval before getting an update.
No sure what happens to your CS2 but the little I know is this:
- early CS2s (60213 and early 60214) had key flaws (no galvanic insulation, feed-back issues) but this is not your case
- many CS2 users describe that the way many CS2 die is by not completing the booting up properly
Here is my good CS2 booting-up properly
You will notice 57 seconds into the video, a green arrow being displayed in the center of the screen.
This shows that the second stage of the cold start is proceeding correctly.
On my faulty CS2, the green arrow is never displayed and the progress bar goes fully to the right.
My personal experience:
- when this cold start issue starts showing, be patient, with an internet connection to the CS2 and as soon as it boot'up (it may happen sometimes), quickly, ask for an update
- in my case, it fixed the problem for a few month (6 to 8 I don't remember) but sadly, it will re-occur.
- Some German modelists say it has to do the the solid state memory (where the program is stored), which has some levels of auto repairs (alternate sectors) but after a while all back-up ressources have been used and it does not work any more.
In your case, the turning OFF of the screen is the key thing.
Do try to illuminate externally your screen when it goes dark. Sometimes you may see a very faint image and you may still proceed with calling M Tante in Göppingen: starting an update. In some cases, the unit may be fully operational but the back lighting shuts off
Cheers
Jean
