In June this year we had our first trip aboard a Giruno ( see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SBB_RABe_501 ) Interestingly I travelled on a Giruno five days before I actually set eyes on the recent Märklin Giruno model. We took a Giruno direct from Zürich to Venice in late June, leaving Zürich at 0859hrs on this unit (seen another day) : The travel was comfortable, punctual, smooth and swift : The route south took us through the Gotthard Base Tunnel (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotthard_Base_Tunnel ) : This was new to us (it opened seven years ago ) since we had previously traversed the alps by other routes. A quick photo in the tunnel ( ) : We made a few stops : The most notable of which was Milan Centrale: Eventually arriving at Venice St.Lucia at 1442hrs with scattered insects on the prow of the leading car: A very short walk across the station forecourt : and onto our (water) taxi : A memorable trip indeed !
