Hi everyone  It's been a long time since I came here to this forum. A few weeks ago my cs2 gave up the ghost. I had to buy a cs3 60226. I am trying to configure Itrain with the cs3. With the cs2 the ''find'' function for the computer's IP address worked perfectly. This is not the case with cs3. There is something I need to do that I probably forgot to do. My version of Itrain is the standard 5.1.6. In the Itrain interface editor, the cs2-cs3 marklin is selected, the port is 15731 and the protocol selected is Motorola. So the "find" function does not work. It's probably in the cs3 settings that I need to do something. This is where I need help: what do I have to do in the cs3 settings to get my computer recognised? How are your computer and CS3 connected in the network? Directly, or through a router?
If you are using a router, is it configured for DHCP? This means IP addresses are assigned automatically. Otherwise you need to configure the IP address on the CS3 in the same subnet as your PC.
Do you know how to find your computer IP address? You can click in the search bar, type 'cmd' to get a command prompt, then type 'ip config'
You will then see the IP address for your computer listed under 'Ethernet adaptor' along with its subnet mask.
For example a typical home network IP address:
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Now that you know your computer IP address, you need to assign your CS3 in the same range (such as .5). First, check the address is free by doing a ping test also from the cmd prompt:
Ping 192.168.0.5
Pinging 192.168.0.5 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Ping statistics for 192.168.0.5:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
We now know that 192.168.0.5 is not used on your network.
So therefore you can go into the CS3 settings and go to network settings (I own a CS2 so i dont know the exact wording for CS3)
You will see fields for IP address and subnet.
Enter tham as per above. Save and reboot.
Then you will be able to ping your CS3 from computer as per above but it won't time out anymore, it should receive a response.
You can then configure Itrain with the CS3 IP address.
Alternatively, Itrain should list the configured IP address for the CS3 in its settings (along with the port etc. you've already mentioned)
You can then simply copy that same IP address and configure that address on the CS3, which will be the same as what the CS2 was. |

Thank you Applor My cs3 and my computer are connected directly to each other by a RJ45 cable as was previously the case with the cs2 and the computer. It worked fine with the cs2 I could also go through the router of the bell canada network but I don't want to do that : many devices are connected in wi fi on this network. I tried your advice to find the IP address of my computer but it doesn't work. I'm going to keep looking, because there's no reason why it shouldn't work like it does with the cs2 Thewolf |

I managed to find the IP addresses of my computer:
ethernet ipv4 169.254.26.206
s network 255.255.0.0
wi fi IPV4 : 192.168.2.31
S network 255.255.255.0
My only problem is that I don't know how to switch to manual in the IP address configuration of the cs3.
There is no manual icon in the settings

Hi In the CS3/IP parameters, if you scroll down you have this zone for manual parameters (upper zone for IP parameters is for dynamic ones.  Note: when my CS2 gave up, switching to my CS3 did not require any address / parameter change on the computer side (direct link case with a CAT5 cable. Cheers Jean |

Hi The CS3 (like the CS2 has the address you assign to it In the example below it is 192.168.0.23 It is for instance the address you type in your browser on your PC to get the CS3 home screen like this (in my case by typing 192.168.0.23)  The answer back address is defined in the CAN screen like here  Cheers Jean |

Sorry just got back to this thread.
The ethernet IP address you listed on your PC is random and this happens when it is set for DHCP but it not given an IP address from a DHCP host. Therefore we need to assign a fixed IP.
You need to go to your network settings on your PC and change it.
Go to Network and Sharing from Control Panel, Change adaptor settings, then right click and select properties for your Local Area Connection - not Wifi!
Select Internet Protocol version 4, and click properties. Instead of Obtain IP address automatically, choose Use the following IP address.
Enter:
IP 192.168.1.1
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.254
On your CS3 do the same, except use IP address 192.168.1.2
On your PC you should then get a response when you ping 192.168.1.2
Then on itrain on your PC, set the IP address for the CS3 to 192.168.1.2 |

Addresses in the form 169.254.x.y are self-assigned if DHCP is enabled, but no DHCP server could be found. When assigning addresses manually, it is good practice to use addresses in the 192.168.x.y range. Originally Posted by: applor Hi Jean The thread was started by Serge, not Jean. |

I have a Bell Canada central router at home. Only one PC is connected to the router by cable, and that is mine. There are 2 laptops and 2 other PCs connected, including the one for the cs3 and Itrain to the router by wi-fi for internet. Two LG Webos 65 inch TVs are also connected to the router by wi-fi. I will try Jean's method and if it doesn't work, I will try to follow your advice Finally, I am not a specialist in anything to do with the network, the internet and the different features and connections of computers. I'm the kind of person who says, "I connect and then everything must be done automatically". Thewolf |

I lost my patience.  I regret my cs2: it was easier. I never found the IP address of the cs3. I have one more thing to do: call Bell Canada to find out how to get an IP address for a device connected to their damn router. Otherwise the cs3 goes back to Mike's house and he can give me the IP address. I'm about to throw this cs3 out the window Thewolf |

Bell Canada explained to me how to access the parameters of the HUB 4000.
And I was able to access all my devices that are connected to it. There are a lot of them.
The terminal gives me the address of the cs3 2019: 192.168.2.29 not connected at the moment.

Don't ask me how I did it but Itrain works with the cs3   In fact, I had the idea of scanning the barcode on the cs3's screen with my mobile phone and it was all gone!  I'll try again in an hour  Thewolf |

I was caught up in the enthusiasm: the cs3 is not connected directly to the pc, the cs3 is connected to the bell network via a cable and Itrain on the pc works wirelessly.
I would prefer the RJ45 cable between the pc and the cs3. I will remove the Bell network (I don't need internet) and I will configure pc Itrain-cs3.... tomorrow or another day

Hi the gang The PC and Itrain-CS3 connection finally works properly. I followed Applor's instructions, Jean's worked too, but I was going through the Bell Canada terminal (a long cable was needed) and I didn't like. Have a nice day Thewolf |
