Yes I had a similar thought - they are too exotic to jump into.

I also find the new Swedish coach set 43787, quite interesting. I think I will go nicely with an NSB Di3 in era 5 livery, eg the Märklin 37692 (Limited edition)

in the Norwegian - Swedish cross border service, a Norwegian Di3 was often used with Swedish coaches.
Eg like this:
nsb3633.jpg

and the new NSB freight car set 46067 can also be used in passenger trains. E.g. together with 29660 or similar.

I agree they look very interesting although it is a pitty the NOHABS used those grids in the front and back windows. (just my opinion)

they didn't always use grids, and I believe they were gradually removed in the 80's and 90's when the locomotives were refitted with armoured windows. I see your point, and I think they are not that bad on the prototype, but when modelled they are often a bit out of proportion (eg on the new 39686, but that is hopefully due to a preproduction model was used in the photo.....). (other Norwegian locomotives also had grids).
one example without grids: (it might be, that this picture was taken when the locomotive was new, and therefore not yet fitted with grids)

Schuco 2023 NI katalog

I noticed that there were no Schuco MHI items in the Marklin NI brochure, which is a change from the last 5 years or so. There is also no MHI items in the Schuco catalogue. Seems they have given up on the idea of MHI items.

I think the clue is on the last page of this new catalogue. It seems Schuco is no longer part of Simba-Dickie. Hans gave me a cryptic hint about this a few weeks ago, but I didn’t follow up on it to ask him what he meant.

I see there are quite a few resin models in this new catalogue too, which I don’t remember as being a Schuco thing.

I think if Schuco is now Chinese owned, that is the end of a very old long-established German toy maker, and that’s a shame.

Ah, OK, I noticed the last page, but just thought it is a case of opening a distributor in HK. I guess competing with Herpa, Wiking and Brekina has driven them under, although I am surprised one of those three didn't take it up and absorb it.

As you say, another heading to be a Fallen Flag, as the Americans would say.

Simba Dickie still lists Schuco as one of its brands.

Hmmm. Not sure about that. They also list Tamiya as one of their brands, but that’s still Japanese.

Minimax Import and Export Co are based in Macau, and they also seem to own Spark, a manufacturer of high-end car models, largely made of resin. I own one Spark model, which is a 1/18 model of my Porsche 911, in superb detail, with exact original Porsche paint colour.

Perhaps we’ll find out more about Schuco in due course. Something has definitely changed!

Schuco was Japanese before Dickie bought it. Read the history/about on the website. I think maybe it was Jarda toys?

I cannot find that information.
I found English DCM and German Gama as interim owners.

It may be the models on that one page are MinMax and that the statement doesn’t apply to the whole catalog.

But the German distributor is Dickie-Tamiya, so they have a reason to show that logo.

Yes, absolutely, so my thought is that they are now still the distributor for Schuco, but no longer the owner of the company. I’ve no idea why they should have sold the Schuco business, as it seemed to me a good fit with Märklin and their other die cast product lines.

I haven’t seen any press release or other information to explain the change in status, but it’s clear that Schuco is not participating in the Märklin or mhi new product announcements this year.

There is also nothing on the Simba-Dickie news page (reached via the link given earlier, and click 'News' in the bar at the top). I would have thought that if they had sold a brand it would get mentioned there.

Personally I would be more keen on seeing Wiking vehicles back with Marklin stock. I hope this will be a future thing again. Wiking use to appear often as added vehicles in the past.

I have two Marklin DB auto carriers from the 90's with all Rietze cars. Ford Escort Caravan-maroon, Fiesta-aqua, Scorpio-cream, Mondeo sedan-red, Mondeo caravan-blue, Audi 500 touring brown, Honda Accord coupe/hatchback-green, Fiat Tipo-blue, Mitsubishi Pajero-blue, Opel Astra sedan-yellow, Opel Calibra-navy blue, Audi A4-lilac. Same item numbers, different issues. I think 4224, or 34. Also a double private carrier stack wagen set with all Busch Mercedes A class.
I thik the Wiking loaded ones were earlier, first with VW Beetles, then the Ford 2 M, or 16 M Taunus.
I missed the Herpa loaded ones with the 90's Mercedes S, E, etc. Then there was the Maybach loaded train set. Then the factory sets with 70's Mercedes coupes and sedans, either by Brekina, or die cast Chinese made perhaps Schuco.
I think at least one OBB wagon had a red VW Caddy, a blue Seat Cordoba, a Porsche, etc.

There are a whole heap of auto carrier wagons.

Along with the Maybach set you mention there is the Porsche transporter set that was marketed through the Porsche Museum complete with a Porsche liveried locomotive.

There was a Volkswagen themed transporter set which had two wagons loaded with VW cars and a diesel shunter.

So I am seeing this MHI item posted on some dealers sites.
Is this a hold over from last year, or new this year?

Also wondering what year this Unimog with the adaptation to rail would have been active?
The 406 itself has a long span from 1963 to 1989.
