On a model railroad, nobody ages. Mehmet has reminded us how "young" we feel. To be able to shave a year or two off my 88 years on this earth helps. In this age of crisis all over the world, model railroading serves to remind us of how it used to be and by imagination, relive the good years. The track workers on Mehmet's railroad are still the same and doing the same work 10 years later. Although I am an American, I enjoy seeing what others in other parts of the world are doing.

Hi Mehmet, Missed your presence on this web site. I have a question for you: I am installing catenary on my Marklin layout. Are you having any problems with your catenary? Many people don't use it or disable it for several reasons. I see on catenary layouts the wires are all torn up and in terrible condition. Not too many people use catenary.

Not too many people use catenary. Hello Ron. I have always used catenary, the old Marklin system. It was also fully operational until 2013 when I went over to digital. (Yes, I went digital late). That's when I disconnected the electrics of the catenary system, because it was recommended by Marklin then. I run all my Loks with the pantographs up, except for a few of the newer ones which seem to get caught up in it. Most of my fleet are E-loks and I've always loved catenary, except for cleaning days. Cheers, Peter.

Yes the latest era E loks have narrower pantographs. So while my era II and III locos worked fine with pantos up, the newer ones got caught in a few places. I systematically adjusted the offending catenary and outrigger arms to accomodate that, but it was a lot of work. Kimball |

Oh boy! That's not good. Time for the pill "Efitol"? That's ef-it-all! Why should I even bother with it then? If I want, I'll just run trains with the panto's up and imagine I have catenary. Or if I ever so want it, I'll install it higher than the panto's reach.
