Can 60905 decoder work well in DCM-60901, SFCM-60903, or LFCM-60904 motors? I understand the 60905 was designed for can motors- Faulhaber motors?
Has anyone installed the 60905 decoder in a locomotive with DCM-60901 motor? Does it run well? Any issues? Thanks.

I finally got the Marklin decoder 60905 and installed it.
It has a running characteristic I do not like. When I power the loco up, it does not move immediately, but after a very, very short time (a tenth of a second??), it then moves. Strange, but it does it all the time. I have locos with 60901 decoders, and these move immediately when I power up the dial speed. Looks like there may be a compatibility issue.

Have you tried it with activated F4?

Coreless motors do not have cogging torque, but the c90 motor has.
Motors with bell-shaped armature usually get going with small voltages where the c90 motor needs more power.
Since the 60905 was developed for motors with bell-shaped armature, it may begin with a lower voltage and it takes some milliseconds until the c90 actually starts moving.

Also the Back EMF parameters in the decoder are set for bell-shaped armatures, not the c90 motor.
Regards
Tom

The motor output stage of the 60905 is different to that of the 60902 decoder. As you mentioned earlier, the 60905 was designed to upgrade locos with the faulhaber motor. In that install they are good decoders, but on a dcm it will never perform to its best. I would recommend getting a 60902 decoder.
