One of my sons tells me that he has seen some transparent C track in a model shop where he lives. I’ve not heard of or seen this, what can anyone tell me about it. ChrisG

The ref. numbers are 20197 (188mm), 20198 (172mm), 20196 (R1 curves), and 20199(?) for track ends. Those have unpainted sleepers. There was an earlier series with painted sleepers, but I don't have details. Edited by user 19 May 2022 17:57:53(UTC)

ChrisG I have some. There are 24130 curves, 24172 and 24188 straights, and 24001 end caps. It was primarily produced for shop displays AIUI, but a fair amount was sold to customers. It was produced around 10 years ago.

My son has now bought me some straights of two different lengths and some end pieces. They will go with my transparent locos! ChrisG

Sadly, my son reports that the Tyrollean model shop which had this track is closing after 80 years, the owner is retiring and cannot find anyone to take the business over. Something common to the UK as well. ChrisG

An odd question:
Were the End Pieces used only for the display purposes? (So the display trains do not roll of the end of the track?)
Were there ever any L/R points made in the transparent? (I suspect not, just needing confirmation)
Thanks All! |

Thanks All! The end pieces are to make the end of the track neat without leaving the contact clips exposed. They are available in the normal C track range as 24001. There were never any points in the transparent range. it was only ever envisaged as a display track, not for normal use.
