Hello Z people,

I have dabbled in Marklin Z for many years now, and went through the 3 pole to 5 pole times. My usual preference is to purchase S/Hand and convert to 5 pole motors knowing it's serviced and fresh,,,,

I have purchased a railbus (not yet arrived) and finding it difficult to source a motor
209452, can anyone please assist me?!

Thanks, George.

Hello, hope you are well.

The z scale Railbus is one of my favorite from Marklin. I still believe everyone should have at least one in their collection.

Sorry to say, that motor is darn near impossible to find. I have not seen one offered for sale on eBay for years. Every website seems to be out of stock. If one is found, it will be expensive.

Of course the new bell motor is all that the new railbuses come with now. If you are able, perhaps the railbus frame could be modified for this bell motor if this is necessary. I have not seen any YouTube videos on this conversion, maybe the new motor fits exactly into the old frame, but I doubt it. Here is the parts diagram for the latest railbus release 88168 released last year.

It is interesting the bell motor might be Available. This might be it. Be certain to get this verified by your vendor.

Best wishes on your railbus, let us know how things work out. Take good care.

Dwight

Hello hope all is well.

Just interested in which Railbus you are waiting to receive.

There is likely an expensive alternative to my earlier suggestions.

Perhaps a new motor, frame, and miscellaneous other parts could be purchased. I have never considered this, but it is possible this would work. I believe the older shell would fit on the new type frame. The wheels/gears look the same.

What a ridiculously expensive project this would be. I also wish I had some spare motors because I have a number of these railbus models. .

Take good care

Dwight hi, it arrived today and looks to be unused mint! no signs of any use, box is like new also and would suggest this came from a static collection?,,,,, Don't want to burst my bubble so will run it later after a gear lube etc,,,,
