Why C-track, and not K-track (unless you ballast the track yourself).

I was looking at this picture half an hour before I read Roberts' post.

The picture is self-expanatory.
It was taken in Germany in 1935, and shows a re-ballasting work train.
Some sleepers are replaced, and the original ballast mostly dug out.
