This is really thinking out of the box.OhMyGod Woot

A layout built on bricks at a fairly high level, both in height and appeal.

No set theme just representing the world.

Remember to have captions set at on so you can see what they have done.

Absobloodylutley brilliant.

You can simply lose yourself in that "overcrowded" train room. The work that the husband and wife team have done is amazing. I even liked their kitchen design !

Their entire home is designed purely on keeping it simple and clean, embracing small spaces (minimalism) and nurturing nature. The aesthetics of a Japanese styling !

I suppose if we all had a woman behind our hobby it would make a huge difference !

Cheers,
Ranjit

I don't fully agree with you Ranjit, if my wife had her way there wouldn't be a modeltrain layout nor would there be hobby of mineBigGrin

Most Japanese modelers are N scalers. He did an excellen job in that tight space.

I would not call it an overcrowded train room at all.

Very well executed and he has created a very well thought out impression of a busy metropolis.

Hi Dale...

The maker has himself declared this layout as "The most overcrowded model train in the world" ! The layout can't be anything but "overcrowded" if he has layered impressions of Tokyo were the couple has lived, and to cram in sights of Berlin, The Netherlands, New York, Shanghai, Moscow, etc. I am surprised that he left out Mexico in the list of places his wife and he have visited together !

The chap actually says it in the video (7:56) that "Our obsession is to express the overcrowdedness of a big city" . And, "to crowd factories and buildings into this small model, and to run a lot of trains on the intricate tracks". !!

No doubt, the couple together are truly amazing model railroaders.

Cheers,
Ranjit

yes he has modelled an overcrowded city, but the layout room itself is not! In fact it is clearly all neat and tidy. Semantics.

I didn't notice it at first but on 2nd viewing I realised how much a mirror on the back wall added so much to depth and overall effect, especially in the night scenes. It's a great alternative to the painted backdrop that are more commonly used. I really enjoyed the video (and the linked one of their living area).

Really amazing layout, Although not the type of layout I would do, I wished I had the imagination to create something with so much flair.

Do you have any idea how he is filming the train with such a steady distance from the front? Drone are mentioned in one of the title but I am wondering what it could be ?
