I searched the 1999 catalog looking for a 4-wheel truck for freight cars, but only found wheel sets. Do you know if a complete truck is available? Same for passenger car trucks.

Could you provide the article numbers of the freight and passenger cars in question?

The spare truck article number for an US-style tin plate box car (as 4773) is easy: E323110.

For the passenger cars it is tricky. There is a truck with the spare part number: E111215.

While the latter fits under the 4224, I am not sure if it is the correct truck model. Here is a E111215 photo allowing to compare it to the existing one in your possession:

If you want to search for the articles, the German string is “Maerklin Drehgestell” plus the respective article number. “Drehgestell” means truck.

It doesn't appear that finding an American style bogie from a German web site is going to get much attention, so the options for me are: (1) buy a U.S. prototype freight car from Marklin and transfer the bogies (trucks) to an American freight car. (2) Obtain Marklin wheel sets and try to fit them to the American truck frames. Option 2 would be the least expensive and this would be a trial and error scenario. Getting the bogies from Germany would be way too expensive.

That would work, but at $14.50 each, equipping many cars would be an expensive task. I also want to use Kadee couplers, so much modification would need be done. I want to thank you for your assistance and patience. Whatever I do, I will be sure to let you know how it turns out for the benefit of others with similar ambitions.
