Hello

I recently picked up a good deal (or so I thought) on a 37500 (Digital Ontario Northlander). It contains the loco, two coaches and a dummy at the end.

I put the loco onto my track and using the CS2 I added it. Lo and behold, I was able to start it going, the lights and sounds worked.

I then decided to stop it. I went to far so I tried to reverse it and it would not go. Then tried to go forward it is did not go. The lights and sound stopped working. It is like it is dead.

Almost looks like the decoder fried.

I thought about setting the switches to analog mode to see if that works but I ran out of time.

Any ideas?

Hi!

Trains with a slider switch-over will only work in reverse when there is an electrical connection between the powered car and the control car at the other end.
Connect the control car if you didn't already do so. Try to remove the middle cars if the problem persists.

Tom

yup you have now switched to the pickup at the other end.

If there is a wiring issue with one of the couplers or with the harness, you can try uncoupling and reattaching the couplers and see whether it responds.
If it does not respond, connect just the locomotive and pilot coach (Driving trailer). If it works, add one coach at a time. If it stops again, the problem will likely be with the last coach you added.

It works... added the last unit (with pickup) and connected wire... fired right up!

Thanks!
