I'm attempting to remove the body from a 34261 railcar, but cannot figure out how to get into it.

Does anyone have a manual for one of these? Mine came without a manual. Marklin have a 34262 on their website (the blue/cream version) but they don't list a manual.

If anyone has a PDF manual for any of the 3426, 34261 or 34262 I would appreciate a copy please.

TIA
Alan

Replying to myself here, it looks like I may have found the info about getting the body off in marklin of Swedens video of upgrading a 34262 over here. I'll have a go at it tomorrow and see how I get on.

I had realised that the body seems to be clipped on but when attempting to prise it off it doesn't seem to come away midway along the length, so I was being real careful not to break something. However with the assurance from Martins video I'll give it another try.

According to my local dealer/workshop it is a bit tricky.

Yeah, thanks for the picture. That confirms what I got from Martins video. OK, out with the toothpicks then ... OhMyGod

Hi Alan/All,

I'm not sure want you intend to do with your loco but it may be of interest to read my article below

3426 LokPilot Micro Conversion

This loco sounds like a coffee grinder which I managed to quieten a little.

Hope you can make some use of the info.

Hi Ross, I did have a look at your instructions, but unfortunately you didn't show how to remove the body, which is where I am stuck at the moment.

Thanks for the pointer anyway.

Hi Alan,

Do you still need the instructions for the 34261?

They don’t show anything different from the diagram in the post above.

You need to use a small screwdriver in the slots shown, to lever the plastic body sideways away from the metal chassis. And you have to do all four corners at the same time, so it’s a fiddle. A typical Trix design!

Best wishes,

Nigel

I think I have enough info from the picture above and Martins video thanks. I was trying to pry one corner at a time but the body appeared to have some other constriction that was stopping it moving out in the manner I was expecting so I backed out and decided to ask.

As you point out I'll need to do all four corners, so it will be out with some toothpicks to hold things as I work my way around.

This is all to get some items to run in two weeks ... BigGrin BigGrin

Hi Alan,

You need to work on all 4 locations at the same time.
Cut thin pieces of thin plastic from decoder packaging or similar and slip them between the body shell and the chassis at the required locations then you will be able to remove the body shell.

yes, i now have had the body off. I used wooden toothpicks at each location. They went in easy and the whole thing came apart nicely.

I do have a problem now though, the lights are uneven (on one direction I get one white light and one red light, but going the other way i get two white lights and two red lights. Now seeing as how there is one bulb at each end with a light pipe I haven't yet got my head around this, something strange is going on.

Thanks. One of the interior lighting bulbs was dead, but I have replaced that. The problem with the head and tail lights has to be something mechanical as the bulbs all work. Useful to have the diagram anyway.

regards

Alan
