Hello

I saw someone using a z21 box to control a Marklin c-track! How come is this possible?
The z21 is from Roco!
Thanks.

Best Regards

Lusito

Nothing strange with this. There are basically 3 different signalling protocols used on Model railways: DCC, Märklin/Motorola and mfx. The Z21 supports DCC and Märklin/Motorola. Almost all locomotives for the Märklin 3-rail tracks support at least the Märklin/Motorola format.

This is no different to someone using an ESU Ecos or a Viessmann Commander with C track.

You seem to have an erroneous viewpoint that only Marklin controllers can work on Marklin track.

This is not correct as Per points out.

The track is just a conductor of voltage / current and in the case of digital operation a digital protocol of some sort. As Per points out there are 3 main ones DCC, Märklin/Motorola and mfx/m4. Any controller that puts out a recognisable digital protocol can be used on any type of track regardless of whether it is made by Marklin, Roco, Peco, Fleischmann, Hornby or whoever.

The beauty is that you get to choose which track and controller to use.
