In order to attain consistent power flow in the track work, the usual way is to use a common buss wire under the layout and to add feeders every 3 to 6 feet to the track. Doing it this way requires one to work under the benchwork which in my 86 year old case is not going to happen. The other alternative is to add jumper wires at the rail joiners. That off course requires a lot of soldering. Is there any other way to use the buss system ABOVE the layout board? I'm thinking about adding "telephone poles" along the track that is common railroad practice and stringing the buss wires on the poles, then adding feeders down to the track. Any ideas or suggestions?

All my wires for switches, signals and feeders are lengthened in advance, then fed to the front of the layout where I can sit on a mechanic's rolling chair and do all my soldering work like a gentleman. When finished, I can cover it all up with a nice removable facia board to dress it up. Problem solved. Mikey |

You could hinge the baseboard top even if it is on a freestanding base - see the post "INVERPINE in N" by nevw.

Many thanks to all. I think I will go with the buss wire and 3M Scotchlock connectors.
