Hello,
I am new to this so I hope I am asking a reasonable question in the correct forum.
I have a Delta controlled track. I received two locomotives that are digital. Is it possible to use these with my setup? Is there any way to configure/convert a digital locomotive to be used with a Delta system?
Thanks, John

Hi!
Welcome to the forum!

Delta is Digital, but with a limited address range.
Digital locos can be configured to use Delta addresses. But some digital locos cannot be configured with a Delta control 6604/66045.

If we knew which locos we are talking about and which Delta controller you have, we could provide more accurate information.
Regards
Tom

Locos with DIP switches (like yours) can be configured with a screw driver. Just check the loco manual to see how to set one of the four Delta addresses.

The lights of the loco will remain off. With a Delta Control 66045 you could turn the lights on.

Locos from 2004 or later may have to be reprogrammed with a newer digital controller to set a Delta address.

Great to know it should work.
Yes, I have looked at the manual, but I do not see how to set to one of the four addresses. Should there be anouther manual?

The addresses are 24 (electric), 60 (railcar), 72 (diesel), and 78 (steam).
Your loco is electric, so 24 would be a good choice.
If you set address 60 you can run your electric loco using the railcar position on your controller. Same goes for the other two addresses.

You will soon be wanting to buy an MS2. I did. Delta Locos don't perform as well as digital. Of course the latest digital locos outperform the earlier ones and you wont get the benefit unless you go to MS2 control or better. I ended up getting a second MS2, to work as a slave to the other one.

Thanks.
That's a good subject. What would be the normal/natural next step after a Delta control system?
Should I open a specific post for this?
Cheers, John

BS. Delta locos perform as well as 36xx Digital locos. Some Delta locos perform better than many 36xx Digital locos.

"Digital" is not always load-regulated. "Load-regulated Digital" is better than "unregulated Delta" or "unregulated Digital".

If you think that Delta locos must be upgraded then you will also find that early Digital locos must be upgraded.

There is no natural next step. Budget is a big factor.
I started with a Delta Control. Then I used that Delta Control with PC and DDW.
Then I switched to an Intellibox.

The MS2 is a budget-friendly next step. You don't have to stick to Märklin, so also check other suppliers.
