Hi everybody!

In the GFP3-1 and LinkS88-1 option menus, there is a field marked with "Status Inquiry Interval" (in seconds). In my case, both are set to 5 (by default).

Does anybody know what is this field for and what it means?

Another question. Does anybody know what is a "Lok Zyklus" (in German)? That is, the idea, the concept and the purpose of a "Lok Zyklus".

Thank you in advance.

Have a nice day.

That looks like it is the time between interrogations of the s88 units, probably in seconds, so defaulting to 5 seconds.

Is that referring to the stylus for doing things on the cs2/3 screen? It is a plastic prod that lives in a slot on the right hand side underneath. Use it for touching symbols etc on the touch screen.

Zyklus is not stylus.

Zyklus means 'cycle'
Lok Zyklus is a loco cycle - probably something to do with a loco refresh rate.

The "Status Inquiry Interval" setting for the LS88-1 and GFP3-1 I believe is the interval that the inputs to the unit are queried and is not in full seconds but in some small fraction of a second otherwise the activator would have long gone by the sensor.

As @Dale wrote already "Zyklus" is a cycle. But to understand in which context "Lok Zyklus" (loco cycle) is used, I need some more information. Where did you find it or in which connection did you read it. So I only can guess it could be the circulation of a Lok for a certain routing. But perhaps it could also define the need for maintenance of a loco. There are different possibilities.

Aaahhh finally I found this word "Lok Zyklus" too in Maerklins brochure about the CS 2 with the title

"Kommunikationsprotokoll Graphical User Interface Prozessor (GUI) <-> Gleisformat Prozessor (Gleis Format Prozessor) über CAN Transportierbar über Ethernet"

at page 11 point "2.5 Befehl: Lok Zyklus beenden"( "2.5 Command: End locomotive cycle"). This is then a case for Dale again. He is the computer specialist, because in this context the word is used for describing the CAN-bus in connection with the "Gleisformat Prozessor" (GFP). I am not so familiar with these computer techniques.

I get this PDF file from Maerklin via Google by inserting "Märklin cs2 can-protokoll". I do not know, if this PDF file is directly available on Maerklin's websites.

Hi TEEWolf!

Yes, this is the point. I do not know what this "Lok Zyklus" means. There is a command to end it. But, when it starts? Why? What is its purpose? These are my questions.

And yes, the "Märklin CS2 CAN-protokoll" document is available through the Märklin website www.maerklin.de > Service > Downloads > CS2 Updates , under the section "Download Bereich", after marking "Ich habe die Lizenzvereinbarung gelesen und bin damit einverstanden".

Thanks for your post. I hope somebody can help me.

Have all a nice weekend!
