Hi I’m after some pics of 1970s, preferably late 70s marshalling yards. Thanks Dan

Hi Dan,
Somewhere I have a link to an official DB movie on the latest freight wagons for that era.
Shows overall views of yards.
I will have to search for it.

Kimball
HO Scale - Märklin (ep III and VI, C Track, digital) - 2 rail (USA and Australia) - 3 rail (English Hornby Dublo) - a few old O gauge.

Try this website: https://eisenbahnstiftung.de/bildergalerie

Then enter "rangier" in the search bar. Give it time to load. There are allot of pics.

There were some pictures of a marshalling yard in one of the early 1980's Marklin catalogs,

Jean that’s very cool. I’ve seen a similar layout set up on YouTube and given the space would do the same. Thanks for the links, in the French link, what do think is stacked up on those DB flat wagons?
I’ve spent a chunk of the day watching hump shunting at Somain yard In Northern France, a few years back now. There was a lot of activity on that morning. But I believe the yard is a fraction of its former self now! And may only be a few sidings now☹️

I have no idea and the picture is a bit fuzzy. Sorry

Now the industry is using complete trains and for smaller shipments it uses Trucks.

I have photos of the Muttenz and Limmattal marshalling yards in the various books by Marti and Trueb (Die Gotthardbahn, etc) (various editions).
I have not seen very many videos online from the 80s and 70s.

Trainfart has some more recent videos of the Ablaufberg:

I did find this one (Basel DB) from 1983:

This is not gonna be particularly helpful but shortly after I joined this forum (2015/2016) there was a guy who showed you tube videos of his "hump yard". He was a tall fella and his layout was in his loft so he was constantly bent over. I used to spend hours watching these videos but cant find them now.

I can' t point out a specific video of marshalling yards but this YouTube channel has been posting some great vintage (and some more modern) German railroad content over the past few months. If you watch some of the 70s videos there are many passing clips of yards shown. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheTraintv/videos

Nice find on the 1983 video 👍 Ford transit on cartransporters 👍
I can’t see who the transporters are owned by. But the do look a dirty gray blue. The look similar to the electrotren models?
