I am currently in the process of converting to digital operation.

I have a 4411 boxcar with a lighted marker lantern and pick up shoe. When operating the the old analogue lay out when power was applied to the track the lantern lit up.

Does the Boxcar require a conversion to operate on a digital lay out? I have not tried the car on the track just in case doing so will cause problems.

Some assistance in this regard would be much appreciated.

If you can live with the light being always on then don't bother with converting it.

But the downside to that is that the lamp will consume an amount of power that you may not want as a continuous drain on your digital signal. There are cheap decoders for doing this sort of thing if you wish to cut down on the power consumption while the van is not 'in use'.
