80 euro not worth . I see some same copy in magazine from other magazines/ booklet etc. The value of belonging to the Insider Club is always worth investigating. The magazine honestly is a bit wasted on me, because there is little of interest. Insider Club News is fine but I can get that online, so why the printed material? Kimball Just because, its Mother Maerklin. (Sorry, poor eyesight) Regards, Gene I think you summed that up nicely |

Personally, I like receiving the mailouts, the magazine, the DVDs, access to order the Insider models, and the annual car, as well as the occasional discount on admissions.

The world seems determined to fall apart right now and maybe even with good reason. I guess only time will tell.
But Märklin production will have to be significantly altered by restrictions now in place around the globe. All 2020 models will be delayed and I expect many to just be cancelled.
So no matter what is on their website or in their brochures many of them will most likely never be made.
I just hope that they are doing the right things to survive until this is all over. |
Regards,
Jim

I for one am a little happy for the delay. This means I can save up and get what I want. I was seriously over budget in my train spending last year. I might even be able to buy food now, but then I will need toilet paper, it is a cruel world after all! Rick

I think that it helps to find good in the bad, at least when and where you can.... but that hasn't been very easy of late, unfortunately. Be Safe |

Based on past experience the East Islanders should have got their copy of 2/2020 on 18 April.. It is now 19 May and no sign of them.. Not good.. |

NZ Post apparently has a 5 week backlog of deliveries and are not even receiving bulky items from Germany due to capacity issues (so their website says). If the envelopes come separately they might get through, if they come as a bulk package and are split up for local delivery then it might be some time before we see the Insider magazines.

Have any West Islanders [ Oz ] been lucky with the mail yet for 2 of 2020 ? Was just checking my book shelf & had the idea that 2 of 2020 had been already received but couldnt find it , 1 of 2020 being the latest .
Cheers Tom in Oz .

My dealer tells me that DHL are not sending any more bulk shipments to Australia.. His last Marklin order was returned to the factory after they tried for two months to find a plane to take it to Australia. My guess is that 02/2020 fell into this one too.. Especially as they send them economy mail.. |

DHL aren't even shipping small packages. I've got two waiting with sellers to send - 1 a small reefer car, the other some 1 Gauge curves. The seller of the curves tried to send them, but they were returned. Roland is also holding some stuff for me at Lokshop for the same reason. No indication of when DHL can ship, but updates will be posted at https://www.dhl.de/en/pr...onavirus.html#neuseelandCurrent info is

One of my dealers has a shipping invoice for an item I have on order, but admits that he has not gotten anything is some time and has no idea when that might change. From what I can tell no one really does at this point, although there are people who think they do. Another dealer said that he can get MRR items shipped to North America if he is willing to pay 850% more that he did before, so he is obviously not receiving inventory either. I would say that the Märklin hobby is kind of dead in the water for a while, at least outside of the EU . Good thing I had decided that I wanted to cut back anyway. Club news is always late for us and god knows when the latest ones might arrive. |

Jim

Hi All,
I hear there is a work around getting items from Germany at this time.
Have purchase from Germany sent to the UK pay the VAT then have the UK address send the goods to Australia.
The system is being tested at the moment by someone else. |

I do have a parcel inbound from the Netherlands (3 weeks in transit so far) and another recent one from the UK. That might be an option if those two parcels arrive OK.

Apparently most of the work on getting this edition and the summer new items brochure was sorted before they had to lock down due to covid-19. However it looks like the 05/20 and 05/20 issues will be combined, and nothing published in august (when 04/20 would be due).

This time my 03/2020 arrived yesterday! I feel almost being in the civilised world And referring to the letter, as KiwiAlan says, it's interesting reading. It shows that no more DVD's as they consider too expensive to produce and we can see directly from the Insider web. I'll miss them. Are they going to make the Insider's fee cheaper? Or will they introduce other advantage? Santi

Santi I do understand the dvd argument, and I do appreciate it being available in better quality . but I suspect it sill may take some years before they upgrade to 4k.... Mine also arrived yesterday, so I suspect postage in Europe is mostly back to normal.

I enjoy the DVDs, but DVD as a medium has had its day. Trouble is I probably won't ever log on to the Insiders website to watch them if thats where they move to.
I feel like there is less and less point to it. I always look forward to the magazine arriving and then am almost always disappointed by it's content.
As someone else said above, I'd really like a mag full of articles focused on other people's layouts.
For me receiving a free catalogue full of stuff I can't afford to buy, and the opportunity to buy a few super expensive models isn't that great a deal, which leaves the one redeeming feature - the Insider wagon, I might as well cancel the subscription and just buy myself a wagon once or twice a year.
:-( |

:-( h Yes. I think that was me. I cancelled mine before I got charged for a New Years subscription. I use to like the dvds. And now there’s not even them and just a sale pamphlet. It’s not going to happen!! Again. I don’t even want an era 3 wagon. The Hornby magazine, which has articles on Bachmann models as well as readers layouts is a much better buy👍 Only trouble is it’s making me want some British outline N gauge. At less than half the price, you get a lovely little British steamer🤪🤪🤪😆👍🤔although Marklin and now Piko HO is first in the cue. Edited by user 01 July 2020 21:55:13(UTC)

Hi Dan,
I'm also disappointed that they are discontinuing the DVD but will stay with it because I like the annual car and occasional insider model. If you need a read, there's a copy within 20 miles of you!

IanC Thanks Ian. There’s not much I want to read about from them at the moment. I’m selling most of my modern stuff. And replacing it with era 4 Sncb stuff. And at the moment it’s Piko. Apart from it’s cheaper they have really become very nice detailed models. I do want a Marklin era 4 nohab. But they keep moving the delivery time. I don’t want to pre order at the moment. So when I get feedback from selling. I buy off the shelf. Anther Piko or two may go in the post to me soon:-) |

Hi Dan,
I've always been very pleased with Piko and they keep getting better but as they do so, the price goes up. I've got a couple on order.
We must get together for another play when this COVID-19 thing is out of the way.

IanC Yes, it would be great to get together again. It was a nice day last time. Hopefully we will see more people next time around. As soon as it’s safe I will put up an invite. I might well have finished the layout.😀😂👌😆 |

Me too! Took 5 days to get from Sydney.. Another days for the WA guys and another month for Tasmania as it has become clear that Germany does not realise that Tasmania is part of Australia.. That's what comes of selling Chinese made fridge magnets of Australia to German tourists.. Here is a good example.. |
