The first images of the new livery for the BLS Re 465 can be found here:

http://www.bahnonline.ch...ogramm-auf-testfahrt.htm

There has been a lot of discussion about whether people like the livery or not.
Inspired by the white line that originally went along the length of the base of the blue section,
I took the liberty of adding a blue line between the green and gray sections of the body.
What do you think?

I made the suggestion to BLS.ch. I don't know if it will get to the design department.

My first thought was a silver stripe, as silver, green and blue have been used in the Nina and EWIII liveries, but decided that the blue stripe had a much better appearance and seems to give the locomotive a better look. I would like to see the SBB Re 460s also get a stripe at that position. The red/gray transition without a stripe is too DB for me.

Mike, I have the opposite opinion, I like it better without the blue stripe, its seems to compete with the blue BLS signet., what i would like to see that the green colour goes down further to match the distance of the top part of the green colour from the BLS signet, I would rather prefer the blue stripe you've added and the same thickness again but in green, usually if you hang up a picture into a frame the bottom part distance is always greater than the top part

The first model of a new livery was a fantasy lok made by Hag. It was inspired by the livery of the ex-SBB Re 420 operated by the BLS
https://img.ricardostati...x1350/pl/1120088200/0/1/

BLS recently released the first actual locomotive in the new livery, as can be seen here:
http://www.bahnonline.ch...g-gruen-3_BLS_8-5-20.jpg

The new livery has the lime green covering basically the same area as the red of the SBB loks, but has the bls alpha logo instead of the SBB Pleitegeier.

SBB Loks used to have a white strip between the green or red and the gray part of the body. The only exception until the Re 460 were a few of the Re 4/4IV prototypes and the Ae 6/6.

The white line provided a nice separation between the top and bottom of the body. When SBB did away with this, the appearance of SBB loks became more similar to the DB liveries.

BLS kept the white line on it's Re 465s until now.

I think that the blue line that I added carries on that tradition and provides a little colour variation as opposed to the green only.

I want it as model! I like the lime color.

For me without the blue line, the line makes it look 'older'.

Does it have 2 different pantos? It appears one is wider and sticking out of the roof on the sides. Does this mean they will be able to run in Germany/Austria too like some of the Re4/4 2s?

The colour reminds me of those 1970s Chrysler Valiant cars that we popular with ghastly colours..

Here is an example of what I mean..

... and if I remember correctly Adrian, your favourite car manufacturer (aka VOLVO) years ago also had a similar green decor option Laugh whilst perhaps not quite so iridescent.

To be honest, I personally prefer the cleaner look without the blue line... But that's just me... Smile

10 of the BLS Re 465 (009-018) were equipped with a pantograph for the DB catenary, so that the locomotives could pull the Hupac ROLA trains from Weil am Rhein into Switzerland without requiring a locomotive change. It is not authorized for any other route in Germany, kind of the same way that a handful of Re 4/4I and Re 4/4II were at times authorized to run from St. Margrethen to Lindau.

Much of those tasks are today handled by the Re 485s, but most of the so-equipped Re 465s retain their different pantographs.
