Hi everyone,

I hear the long anticipated Liliput B3/4 SBB steam locomotives are entering production and hitting dealers. I'm dying to get one but a little confused by my choices, and haven't seen one in person yet. A few questions for those more educated than me:

- Does anyone have a model, and can give a mini-review, or point out mechanical operation? (aka does it work well?)

- There seems to be 3 AC variants of the model: 131955, 131957, and an SBB Historic version I cant seem to find the number for. Can anyone explain the differences?

Thanks! I suspect my google searches would have been easier if I spoke German

I think it is correct that there will be three varieties, but the SBB Historic version (road number 1367) does not seem to be available yet:

If I remember correctly, Liliput announced the two versions (Era I and Era II). I think it was Arwico (the Swiss distributor) who announced the third version. The Era I 131955 (1359) version was 2014, the Era II 131957 (1364) version was a 2015 new model.

Arwico announced the following in 2014: 08.131950 1311 DC or 08.131955 AC. That Arwico flyer mentions that 1367 belongs to SBB Historic, but makes no mention of it as a model. The Liliput 2013 flyer mentioned 1310 as the lok number.

Dealers seem to mention only 1359 and 1364.

Roger Suter has discounted prices on these models listed on his suter-meggen.ch website http://www.suter-meggen....rtiment/liliput_be34.htm

Regards

Thanks Mike! I don't like the version currently out with the safety bar on the tender, so I'll likely wait on the next (or try and snag the historic one if possible, assuming I can find it)

This video might also provide an impression of one of the models:

According to dealer Roger Suter's current newsletter, delivery of the SBB Historic version of the B 3/4 with road number 1367 will start in a few days.

Hi all- reviving this topic. Does anyone know how performance of these is, or have any of your read german forum reviews/opinions? I am a bit afraid to buy without hearing, although my liliput A 3/5 is pretty good.

Any advice is appreciated!

Sorry, no personal experience - only the information that because this "Black Friday" thing has now reached Switzerland, you can obtain the model rather cheaply today:

I have one, I found it at 330 CHF at the Gottardo Base Tunnel opening celebration.
It's great, runs smooth and silent but it's too light. See this video
B3/4 SBB

I don't see the current pickup problems shown in this video
B3/4

I'm wondering why Liliput sells the AC version without sound only, the DCC sound version exists.

I'm running it in a consist with A3/5 705, pulling a Gotthardbahn Basel Mailand train. Their speeds are somewhat different and must be tuned carefully.
I would say it's the first Gottardo Eurocity ever Smile Smile

regards

Hi everyone- just a note that I finally bought one of these- part 131955 (or 131950, whichever one is factory AC). Sadly quality and performance are not nearly as good as the A 3/5 I also have from liliput. Some notes for those ever considering one:

- There were several assembly issues right out of the box, which is frustrating but in fairness easily rectified by even your beginner locomotive mechanic.
- On flat, clean, C track, I could not get the locomotive to pull more than 3 standard bogie passenger cars. The second I add a 4th I get wheel slip all over the place.
- Weight (my finger!) helped rectify the issue above, but the thing was still struggling a bit. And as can be seen in youtube videos adding weight is a major headache, or alternatively adding more traction tires requires parts and some surgery
- The "cutting out" issue on electrical pickup didn't really seem to be an issue on mine at all. That was working fine.

In all, I knew this wasn't an ideal locomotive going into this, but it really was worse than expected. My benchmark was my Liliput A3/5 Steam Loco, which really isn't bad at all- although nowhere near Marklin or Roco performance.

I ended up returning it to Lippe, for the price (no sound, and on sale for ~$250) I needed something that can at least pull a few cars and be more than a display case model. Hopefully we get a Marklin or Roco version someday...
