From the photos looks like it might be a bridge under construction that dropped the roadway. Train plowed into the concrete.

The driver died. Was a Swiss train "Rollende Landstraße" from BLS.

The bridge was being demolished and a 100 Tonne heavy section of roadway fell onto the tracks.

I know in the US when such bridge construction projects are underway over a highway, the highway is closed to traffic (overnight typically ) and traffic routed around. That cannot happen in rail I suppose, as there isn’t an off ramp and go around local rail line that the trains could use.

Terrible accident. As I’m working with both road and railway infrastructure, I can assure that safety measures are way much higher on railway work in Europe (when it comes to risk management etc.), compared to road activities. It seems as if someone has committed a crime here.
