Hi everyone,

I'm looking for female spade connectors to fit C track "tongues". This is to make feeder wires. Does anyone know a source, preferably USA based? Jameco is seemingly tough to search, or they don't have them. The markling number for these is 74995, but I'm not paying those crazy prices.

The Tongues appear to be 3mm wide if that helps.

Something like these, although the first link is still a touch pricey (but not terrible...), and the latter I'm turned off by the gold finish? I need to solder, and I suspect that is not brass...

https://www.ebay.com/itm...h-Lighting-/191288723980

https://www.amazon.com/U...Connectors/dp/B00LUS4ENU

Ideas? Or better yet a proven commodity?

They are more like 2.5mm. I had this exact issue recently, as a MS2 trackbox our club recently purchased from a former member's estate had the output cables cut right back to about 50mm in length with no spade connectors on the cables. I got some 2.8mm connectors from a local automotive parts shop, but they were too loose when fitted to the C track.

Another club member had some spare 74995 connectors which he gave me, and I ended using using these together with replacing the original cable with new cable. I did wonder whether there was an alternate supply for 2.5mm spade connectors, as all the ebay and Aliexpress connectors I found are 2.8mm.

So John, I would go for your first ebay link, and forget the ones from Amazon as they will be too large and you would have to crimp them further to get them to fit.

Current Lokshop price for 74995 is 4.40€ (about $8.50NZD), which is for 20 pieces. Your ebay price is about $25NZD for 100 pieces, which would be $5NZD for 20 pieces. Shipping is extra in both cases.

Cool

The correct size is called 2,8 x 0,5mm; the German name is btw. "FLACHSTECKHÜLSE".

The 3mm type will be too loose, the 2,5mm type will be impossible to get on.

I used to buy them from Conrad in Germany around 2008, at that time the item number was 735655.

Edit: And they still have the same item-number: https://www.conrad.de/de...earchType=SearchRedirect

My price incl. VAT was at that time 0,05 EURO a piece; when buying 1000.

You have to contact them to get a price, there's no automatic system to reduce prices when buying many.

I also have the correct crimping tool, which is a great help BigGrin

Per.

Presumably the 0.5mm refers to the wire thickness the connectors are specified for.

You can get 2.8mm connectors off Aliexpress - $1.89 USD per 100 with 100 insulating sleeves included.

No, the 0,5mm is the thickness of the spade, they exists also as 2,8 x 0,8mm; both for up to 1,5mm2 wire BigGrin

This box from Amazon have different sizes, including male connectors: https://www.amazon.de/So...8x0-Teilen/dp/B074Y6XNXF

Hi all,

I bought from ebay.de this set from CHINA Scared :

https://www.ebay.de/itm/...sid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

It has three different sizes and I need for my passenger wagon lighting project only those smallest 2.8 mm x 0.5 mm ones. I will not touch this parcel/box until it has stayed as quarantee for several weeks because of that possibility to get infected of Corona-virus. It has not arrived yet and I’m not in a hurry to receive them.

Cheers,
Janne

Cool

Looking trough my old pictures I found a picture of the ones I bought from RS-online, which are also called 2,8 x 0,5mm.

However, they were too loose.

Do NOT buy these: https://dk.rs-online.com.../crimp-spadesko/4881213/

Wrong type, even if 2,8 x 0,5mm:

When connecting wires to C track I just solder the wire which is more secure I found. Just a thought.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

I am planning double security- spade and solder ThumpUp

I just tried these, worth a gamble for $2 including shipping! https://www.ebay.com/itm/112072231489

The Ebay ones looks just like the first ones I tried, the little lock thing on the back shows that they're meant
to be inserted in a plastic housing / multi plug thingy.

The same little lock can trick you to think they're good connected, since it will jam under the track, so you can't pull
them off again; but that doesn't mean you have good electrical connectivity Cool

If you don't mind the work, the lock thingy can be bent in to the inside of the connector, and act as a spring,
pressing on the tongue of the C-track, and thus make good connection, if the connector itself is too loose BigGrin

Been there, done that, still haven't got the t-shirt Laugh

I don't know about the Jameco ones, the connector itself looks a bit big, even though meant for 2,8 x 0,5mm spades.

You should be able to find the right ones on Ebay; I can't help you, since Ebay won't let me search US based sellers who only ship to US Cool

Which is why I figured it is better to go with the Marklin ones after my experience with the connectors from the automotive shop, as you know they will fit properly.

The suggestion is 9 days should be enough to kill it. The parcel would take longer than that to get to you.

To be sure wipe the parcel with disinfectant and leave it in bright sunlight for a while.

Sure, for smaller quantities it's not worth the troubles BigGrin

I only did it because a lot of Märklinistas asked for it, and I sold several thousands in bags with 100 pieces,
my price being less than 25% of the Märklin price - and with a perfect fit BigGrin

It was at the same time I gave away free orange wire LOL Laugh LOL

Not here they aren't.

The only ones Jaycar NZ have are 6.4mm - far too large.

If you are talking about these ones, they are 3.2mm, so again too big!

Could it be that the 3,2mm is the width of the connector, and not the spade?

I know the homepage says "Spade width 3,2mm"; but that's a new size / standard to me Cool

If you have one, and a caliper, you could measure it for us? BigGrin

It could also be that they are too wide; but still pressing good on the tongue of the C-track?

As long as they're pressing good, and gives good electrical connection, I don't think 0,4mm too wide will be a problem BigGrin

Hi John,

Thanks for sharing my link, "a touch pricey ( but not terrible...)", awe BigGrin, you know I've got pay those ebay and paypal fees...

I buy them in bulk spools, which also makes for a bit more work prepping them for sale.

They are a little longer but fit great, also easy to crimp and solder. Sold thousands to many happy buyers.

If interested, PM me for a better price or the details.

Cheers,
Gordon

Hi Gordon, I certainly didn't mean to offend, I did not realize you (or who) was the ebay seller. I was just searching by part number. Yours is the most affordable and proven commodity option I've seen! I'm just used to ordering such components from an electronics wholesaler.

Also- totally get the headache of dealing on ebay. That is absolutely worth a markup...
