Hello Friends, Greetings ! I have a Bavarian class G 5/5 Steam loco: https://www.maerklin.de/...s/details/article/39550/I would like to know can I use a Current Conducting NEM Close Coupler to power the lights of passenger cars I plan to buy ? Can i just install the Current Conducting NEM Close Coupler without any modification ? Thx a lot in advance. Cheers, Ajith

I don't know how, I mean you have to find a way since it is a Brawa loco. Probably a direct link soldered to the coupler. Cem.

Oh, cool, then the answer is: with very little work you can do it.

Possibly a better solution would be to use the digital light kits from ESU?

Hi
To connect lighting for the train from a loco is not a simple think. You must have experience with the loco, the decoders, and the decoder mapping
1. The loco must have free space inside for the needed modifications. 2. The decoder must have at least one free AUX output 3. You can't connect directly the AUX output to the contacting coupler. 3. You have to use a relay or an optocoupler to control current flow from the center rail to the wagons. The decoder has to be programmed. 4. The wagons must have the right equipment installed to take the current from the loco and the outer rails (red from the loco - brown from the rails) 5. You must have a high level of knowledge and experience with models and electronics as well to do all these by uresefl. 6. The loco you are speaking for is a very nice expensive model. 7. If you want to try select another simpler and cheaper loco
My opinion is don't try something like that with the beautiful G 5/5
There other solutions like ESU lights or to use a decoder with a relay to one of the wagons in the consist and from there give current to the others wagons with contacting couplers
Regards
Costas
