I am looking to buy a roller track stand and speed measuring software to calibrate my locos in TC9 Gold.

And as far as I can find, the best choices seems to be either a KFP Zeller stand with Speed-Cat plus och Marion Zeller stand with MAX.

What´s your experience? Which one works best? Or is there any other good option?

Thanks,

Some years ago I tried the KFP Zeller and SpeedCat but I didn't get good readings. I had the extra devices to hold the engine in place (even upside down) but the wheels slipped or climbed on the rollers. Maybe I did something wrong, but I went back to measuring on a descent length of feedback track with adjacent feedbacks.
Anyway, the roller track stand can be useful for servicing engines.
OneGauge Marklin and MTH, ESU ECoS 2.1 on LGB tracks. MTH 3-rail 0-gauge, DCS on GarGraves tracks. Z: Rokuhan tracks, analog or DCC+TC Gold.

I agree with previous post, speedcat is not good enough. I suggest to do it the proposed way. Last year, at the Intermodellbau in Dortmund, There was someone selling a small unit with 2 photocells that was placed over the rail, and together with the manual profiling got very precise results, and much quicker. I have built such a unit myself and it works great. It’s controlled by an Arduino and sends the results to TC via serial. I need some time to document the unit so some day my intention was to publish it here and in the Freiwald forum.

Here’s a picture of it:
