Dear forum,

So I am in the process of listing my locos in my Central Station 3. So far, so good.
I used an Intellibox previously.

I now have the first loco that does not drive good. It is my good old BR 86 582 with the LFCM motor and Telex which I digitalized with a LDW-1 decoder.
The loco runs yet it will halt from time to time. Once that happens, it is impossible to start hat loco without powering down the central station and restarting it. After which it runs again...

I suspect the CS3 and the LDW1 decoder are not good friends. Confused
Does any one observe similar issues with that decoder and motor type on CS3?

I have some converted Delta locos with the 60901 5 pole motor and a Kuehn T145 and these ones run absolutely fine with the CS3.
So maybe it is time to convert the BR 86 with a 60944 kit...

Anyone has a BR 86 with LFCM converted to 5 pole with 60944? Does it run well?

Thanks,

Steven

The class 86 run extremely well with 60944 . You must use the cover 1 and the 8 teeth rotor.
The decoder and the decoder settings (CVs) are more important.

Mine is with a simple fx Märklin decoder and runs excellent

Thanks Costas. That is good to know.

I think I will order 2 60944 kits for my 2 BR86 and have them converted.

This sounds like the decoder could be overheating due to the motor current draw, (or some other problem) and cuts out. Power cycling the cs allows enough cool down time for it to run again.

I assume other locos will still run once this one stops, without power cycling the cs?

Yes, the other locos just keep running while the BR 86 stops.

Update. 2 60944 kits arrived Friday With two Kuehn T65 decoders... and whilst storm Dennis was howling, I converted both Laugh
They run very nice now. Only on high speeds the gears can be a bit noisy.

I will oil carefully, run them a while and adjust the speed curves...
