Hi folks,

Since I don't have a layout at the time being, I've started with weathering projects that have been waiting for 7-8 years.

Not first, but one of the most fun project was converting a BR55 (Prussian G8) loco (the one from the double loco set) to TCDD 44101.

Although there is no photo evidence of the 44101, I was able to track it down from the manufacturers records some 10 years back.

I had purchased the model from a fellow who started weathering it but failed big time. So, I first had to repaint the whole body, placed the brass TCDD plates (using nail polish as glue) made by Mr. Kuswa -again- 10 years back. And did the weathering using enamel and powder paint, finished with matt clearcoat. While on it I replaced side windows with extra thin glass as the prototype photos suggested that TCDD used both windows had glasses.

Don't mind the white trimming on the wheels, they are removed later as the prototype showed no white painting against regular TCDD livery.

One tip for the interested ...

When working with powder paint, you can use ladies hair spray to create layers (i.e. protect previous layers). Hair spray creates a very thin layer thus does not create that uglyness caused by thick coating.

Hi Cem,
You are a master artist.
Thanks for the tip about the hair spray.
