Folks;

Sorry to ask a non-Marklin question of this nature. Has anyone purchased any of the Liliput Stadler RABe 515 models or other variants such as the 511? Suter-Meggen keeps sending me notes on them and they look great - just wonder if anyone has bought one.

Thanks

I have the Liliput L133934 BLS RABe515.004 MUTZ, it's great.
Unfortunately it's also expensive.
If you can access the Swiss Model Railway group on FB there is a good video here

I have this model Liliput L133930 + L133921. I bought some years ago in a special offer. It is a great model. I am so happy with it.

Mine running in the club´s layout:

I have the Flirt and the KISS (and the RBDe Domino) of the SBB. The two motor design is interesting. I have seen some issues with the connectors which have resulted in one motor stopping and other related problems.
The trains look very nice, but I would have preferred to see these models coming from Roco or Maerklin. The same can be said for the Lima Expert ETR-610/RABe 503.

There is a huge difference between Liliput Flirt, KISS and Domino and Lima ETR610.

Hello Mike, I am with you on this model. I have the flirt & have had issues with one of the cogs slipping on the drive axle. Train would go nicely in one direction & it would struggle going in the other direction & derail easily. I would need to get spare parts for it but have not yet investigated how to do that yet. Any advice on best place to get Liliput spares would be appreciated. For now the train runs in one direction only.

Liliput Germany has rejigged it's parts service, so you may be able to get what you are looking for. You can also check with Arwico in Switzerland, as they are the distributor and do service in that country.

I have two different Flirt models as well as the ZVV RABe 511 (the one with the blue band). The train works pretty well, but I was a little concerned about the amount of heat coming from the decoder as I was worried that this may cause the shell to deform. Liliput has improved, but I would still love to see these models in Roco/Maerklin quality.

The newest SBB (KISS) and BLS (MUTZ) trainsets come out to almost $1000 Canadian each, which is comparable to Maerklin/Roco prices. I was thinking about getting the Regional Traffic version of the RABe 511 and perhaps a BLS one if it had "Interlaken" as destination as I had rode on this train between Interlaken and Spiez while in Switzerland.

First you Flirt, then you KISS...

My comment was regarding the technology level and workmanship of the various models.

Also mine.
Liliput ones are at Märklin and Roco level, Lima is quite far

I don't think that the electronics and motorization on the Liliput models are quite at Maerklin/Roco level.
The Lima one is pretty basic and a level below.
