Have seen two variants the way crane is fixed (irrespective of the railing - Geländer).
The screw makes sense,the nut means different construction.
Are both variants genuine or one of them (with the nut, less frequently seen) is a repair ?

I have seen both.
One version has a threaded base in the crane , the other a recessed hole .
Not sure which one came first, and when.
Whatever, I love these, because they are just toys and carry so many memories from my youth....in the late 1940's...Wink Wink
