I have upgraded the standard decoder in my SBB 482 to sound using the 60979 pack. The upgrade was very easy and went very well. The sound is great and the headlights work fine. However, there are no rear/red lights in reverse. Am I missing something or is this how it is?

I would check that the appropriate flat cable is pushed fully home in its connector on the adaptor board. Those things are not the easiest to make properly before pushing the little clamp home to lock it in.

Hello David,

I got this month the BR 147.5 (36638) and the Insider V 320 (39320). Meanwhile these new locos are all equipped with a mSD/3 decoder version.

First time I started the BR 147.5 everything was functioning except the head and red rear lights - I thought. Then driving the loco in darkness, I saw all these lights are burning, but not very strong.

The V 320 was just the other way around. Starting running this loco, it showed a brilliant light at front and back red lights. I have no idea what Maerklin is doing.

Perhaps the price may be a reason. The BR 147.5 is one of the new low price locos, the V 320 is a high priced Insider model. And the BR 147.5 costs almost only about 45% of the Diesel BigBoy Love V 320. But I have to confess the quality of both locos are outstanding. NO complaints from myself. Even the equipment (all right not directly comparable to the Insider loco) of the BR 147.5 is with its 16 functions absolutly satisfying.

Ciao

So which is the part number of the SBB 482 you actually are working on?
The 36606 and 36851 and the locos from the start sets 29480 and 29135 have no red tail lights.
The 37446 and 36627 editions do have red tail lights.

36851 so no red lights. Mind you, I never run it without a train anyway

The loco only has yellow LEDs, so you won't get white or red lights.
In the original thread you were told that you can get replacement boards e.g. from Modellbau Schönwitz to get white and red lights and long-distance headlights for this loco.

Tom
