Gentlemen,

I got an issue with my current purchase 36194 loco. it is a new loco bought from a local dealer. Unlike any other loco, this one did not respond to starting and braking delay setting. Is there any way to make sure that something is wrong with the firmware?

I tried to set both, in the setup menu and in the configuration menu (CV setting) with similar results.

I don't want to return the item to Marklin (quite costly) before I knew that I can not do anything (reprogram the firmware?) to rectified the problem.

Thanks and regards

Boody

Hi I would suggest you return the loco to your dealer. All Marklin locos come with a 2 year warranty.

Harry, what you will find most if not all dealers do not repair locos and secondly they don't send locos back to Märklin as most dealers would say: send the loco to Märklin direct.

buying a new loco one would think a explanation booklet would be attached how to change various CV's and I would suggest reading the booklet and see if you can find the CV responding to the acceleration and braking delay or Boody should email Märklin and find out.

regards.,

John

Hi John
In the UK the liability for faulty goods is with the seller, they are expected to either refund or replace the item.

I don't know the regs in Singapore however.

Basic question: with what equipment did you try to chance the CVs?

Thanks for all feedback,

My Singapore dealer told me to claim directly to Marklin and send it back.

I am using CS3 and already try to change the CV values with no respond.

I would highly appreciate if anyone to advice me on how to fix faulty firmware. I also need to get the proper firmware as well....

This will save me some cost and trouble.

Best regards,

Boody

If you mean the loco's decoder firmware maybe the link in post 11 of the CS3/CS3+ update thread will help. Here is a link to the thread: CS3 V1.4.1 Update.

The instructions are in Danish, but a website translator worked for me. Note, under How To Do, it says to select the configure tab, it should be the set-up tab to find the U button in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

I'm no expert, but I don't think updating the firmware will reset the decoder to factory settings.

Hope this helps,

Harold.

Hi Harold,

That is CS3 latest update and had nothing to do with this particular new #36194 loco. My other loco works fine. Only this new loco that is not responding to my starting and braking delay settings.

Best regards,

Boody

Follow the link, it shows you how to update the decoder's firmware using the CS3/CS3+.

Here is the link again: Update Firmware Marklin mSD3 mLD3 Decoders

The instructions are in Danish, but a website translator worked for me. Note, under How To Do, it says to select the configure tab, it should be the set-up tab to find the U button in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

Do it on a programming track with only the loco you want to update!

Hope this helps,

Harold.
