Hello all,

A rainy day here in the UK so I thought I would fit the detail parts to my E41 39410. I have really struggled with them especially the ones between buffers. I would like to know how others have dealt with the installation. Very frustrating, help!

I found this photo of the model with the parts added: https://wiki.3rail.nl/im...Märklin_39410-1.JPG

It seems that these parts are just inserted into the sockets on the locomotive body. Manipulating some of those small parts with tweezers or hand can be difficult for those who might have visual or dexterity issues. Having some kind of holder for the model and a magnifying lens can probably help make this kind of work easier.
I find that my glasses (reading or progressive lenses) often add to the complexity because shifting a mm or two can bring the model out of focus, which can be a pain while working on it.
I also find that the tweezers sold by Maerklin in their toolkit often allow the small part to shift while you are trying to insert it.

Regards

Mike C

A bit out of topic but the brake hoses and all the things between the buffers in the new Scale I Croco are absolutely impressive!
Best regards,
Miguel
Mostly Märklin H0.

Yes they are and unlike in HO I bet that they are already installed.
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

Hopefully no more rainy days for you.Wink

It is dreadful to attach these little parts. When I bought my first digital locos I did not know, what shall I do with this parts and gathered them all in a seperate box. But meanwhile I keep them in the box the loco is packed in. Actually these little pieces are attached for the "display cabinet drivers" Smile. Therefore these pieces are for collectors, who never drive their locos but view them at the wall. Indeed it makes the loco more realistic to the original one.

There I drive my locos, I do not attach these hoses, tubes, etc. Makes my life easier and I spend rainy days reading a good book, like "Driving digitally with the CS 3".Love

I drive my locos here and there, but many of my locos only have a coupler at one end, thus I can fit hoses and other details at the other end.
My general experience is that those locos work fine on layouts, even if the manual indicates that those parts are for display case use only.

Sometimes even H0 models come with those parts pre-installed. Maybe try ESU locos...
