Hi,

What would be suggested blocks for the sidings below. A shuttle train will go to-and-from the full platform length, and freight will be left at the Volvo depot and the loco use the passenger track to go around dropped off wagons.

Perhaps we are not really sure what your question is. In Rocrail switches are not in the block so based on your diagram there is the possibility of 6 blocks shown. If your question is regarding sensor locations, then that depends on the intended operation which you are describing.

Ok, so looking at the shuttle operation first. When the train arrives to pick up passengers at Little Sabre, the train will span the entire platform across the point in the middle. Are you saying this is simply not possible with RocRail? Why not have the first half be a block, even if you lie to RocRail and have the "In" sensor in the second block?

Thanks

As far as I know you cannot have a switch in the middle of a block. You might be able to write a script file with Actions that do what you want, but that is beyond my expertise.

In Automatic control the Commands for switches are set first. So even if you try to "lie" to Rocrail with the sensor locations you may not get the switch action consistently the way you want.

My suggestion is you define each section between switches as a Block, then setup a Route between the associated Blocks, assign the Commands for switch setting that you want, and then assign your shuttle train to that Route.

You could choose to ignore the two turnouts, and virtually replace them with two straight tracks. The crossover between the blocks can then not be used for automatic control of trains.

In TC Gold, I have tested to have two blocks on each track instead; Example

- Block length 50 cm
- Train length 70 cm

As the train length > block length , the software calculates how many blocks that needs to be reserved. I don’t know if Rocrail offer similar solutions.
