Hello everyone,
Did anyone buy the Märklin Start up - "Jim Button" Starter Set ?
I know this is for kids but I'm a 62 years old kid and I'm planning to buy it.
Thanks for all your comments and advices.

I bought the 'lava wagon' because I also have a couple of the 'kryptonite' wagons from previous years, but haven't otherwise bought any of the Jim Button series. Do note that the loco is somewhat larger than any HO loco which will become a problem if you have tunnels or overhead catenary, but all the other wagons are standard HO wagons.

Is it Jim Knopf or has it officially been translated as "Jim Button"?

I don't call the soccer (football) player Bastian PigClimber...

Hi Mike,

https://en.wikipedia.org...d_Luke_the_Engine_Driver

The "button" is important, at least in the first chapters of the book where it is described how and why Jim got his (and this) name.

Markus

Yes, it is Jim Knopf translated. Sometimes it happens, like for the race driver Michael Schumacher, who sometimes is translated into "Mike Shoemaker", although it is incorrect. As you know, a shoe in German is "Schuh" not "Schu".BigGrin

Would understand it a bit better, if they would have said "Jim Chap". But it is strange to me. A bit like "central station".Laugh

Unfortunately even Wikipedia in Germany lost his neutrality and is filled up with political correctness. Even it is linguistically incorrect.
