Hi,

I decided to switch from mobile station 2 to a CS3+
However, I am struggling a bit on what i really need to buy to make it work :/

I just look the documentation :
http://streaming.maerkli...3_Manual_EN_final-lo.pdf

From my understanding, I need to buy :
- Central station 3 plus: https://www.maerklinshop...5/central-station-3-plus
- 60 VA Switched Mode Power Pack : https://www.maerklinshop...ode-power-pack-230-volts
- Connection track : I did not find where to buy the wire ?
- Programming track : I did not find where to buy the wire (which is the same than the Connection track from my understanding) ?

By the way, regarding Central station 3 plus, I do not understand why there is 140€ difference price between Lockshop and Marklin official shop for the same product :
- https://www.maerklinshop...5/central-station-3-plus
What is the reason ?

Thank you for your help.

Denis

You need the power pack 60 VA in addition to the CS3+. Connection track isn’t needed, two sets of wires are included for connecting to C-track main and programming track.

Märklin official shop is (i beleive) very expensive to avoid competing with retailers. They need a large network of shops to promote their brand, and the online shop is not the place they want to increase sales...

The difference on price is because the Marklin shop always sells at full RRP, they never (or very rarely) discount items. Everywhere else is discounting the cs like mad to shift stock.

You can use any wire that suits, but for your purpose you probably want to buy the 74060? feeder wire that comes with the push on lugs for the C track. A second one will do for a programming track connection. The cs comes with the connectors for the other end that plug into the cs.

I would always by from a shop, NOT the official Märklin shop; not only because of the price difference;
but mostly because of the different level of service. Cool

You need neither a connection track for C-tracks only for K-tracks nor a programming track. This has to be done by yourself. It is a regular track, only completly electrical separated from the rest of your tracks. The connecting cables (2 pieces) from the CS 3+ to your layout is attached to the CS 3+.

And it is even getting cheaper in a free market.

No offence, but have you used the search function at marklin-users.net already? Your questions are discussed at marklin-users.net too.

Ok thank you for your help.

I did several search but found nothing. But I must did it wrong.
What do you mean by "MUN" ?

I also want to buy a S88 :
https://www.maerklinshop...coder/51248/s-88-decoder

From my understanding, I can directly plug it to CS3+ and I do not need to plug an additional power supply.
Can you confirm me no additional power supply is required ?

Thanks

Is this a shop you would recommend when it comes to service and if there's guarantee problems ?

For CS3 PLus join the Lippe Premium Club and save cash on the CS3 Plus. I have already worked out why previously but it's not rocket science and anybody can see who is cheaper. Never buy from the Marklin shop unless cash means nothing to you. Make sure you also buy the Marklin book (03092) which will give you all the info you need.
I expect you will have read about Lokshop on here regarding their current service to some members.

All you need is the CS3 Plus and the power supply and a S88 if you want one. If you go with Lippe remember to tell them you want the extra 10% discount on the CS3 PLus.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

marklin-users.net = maerklin-user.net (well yes it is marklin, but this is not the correct German spelling, because the name is "Märklin" not "Marklin". But for languages without the "ä" in their alphabet as in the German language you also can use "ae" instead of the "ä").

Indeed this is an advantage of a CS 3+. You just connect a S88 AC directly to a CS 3+ without further power supply. This is only needed for a Link S88 or if you got plenty of these feedback modules. See the systems architecture of Märklin digital.

https://www.maerklin.de/...emarchitektur_gesamt.pdf

This link (as many others as well) is only available via the German website from Märklin.

https://www.maerklin.de/...gitalbuch-cs3/downloads/

But buy also the Märklin book art #03092.

https://www.maerklin.de/...digital/digitalbuch-cs3/

https://www.maerklin.de/...s/details/article/03092/

An excellent extension to the pdf manual of the CS 3. It includes a very helpfull overview of all available digital devices from Märklin as well.

I just looked it up again. The Märklin book has an own chapter (page 93 et seqq) about the S 88 and all the feedback possibilities too. Also which feedback sensor system with a CS 3 are usable.

I buy myself at this shop, but for service and guarantee problems I never can give a recommendation. This is very individual from shop to shop. Mainly these internetshops in Germany are small reseller and not like Amazon. Perhaps "Modellbaushop-Lippe" (MSL) is a bigger one with a bigger stock of merchandise. They even have a movie about themselves, where they say that they always have minimim one employee who is speaking English and French. This you may not expect at the most MRR resellers in Germany.

This in my opinion is the major problem with lokshop. It is a tiny shop and this generates sometimes a jam. But you can relay on lokshop, but you need patience. Normally in Germany you can trust on the legal system. Only be very sensitive and aware about fake shops. "besserepreise" is definetly not a fake shop. You can see his shop via google earth. As I said, I bought several times at this shop already and received always my orders.

I did it, I am satisfied and I think was the best option.

I am glad that things are getting clearer for you regarding the CS3+, denis81!

I pretty much in the same boat as you, and I am learning too!
