I won't thank the post because that would be recognising this vandalism.

Some tell me it's art. But I see it as wonton destruction of other people's property. Whether it's a train or a wall or a bridge, it is horrible and makes the place look untidy.

As for the person called banksy and the money he makes from this so called art - don't get me started...…..

At least in our 1:87 world we can control it totally. Any prierserling in my world try to do such a thing and they will be burned to a cinder.

I was completely disgusted when MRR manufacturers started selling trains with this garbage on them years ago.

its an irony when we intend to copy prototypical train compositions, these days all you see is wagons with graffiti and I have no intention to copy that.

there is an Australian in America on trail over graffiti and he could get 20 or so years in prison, I don't know how these people can afford a ticket to America and than all they do is make their mark with graffiti. , he is also wanted in Western Australia jumping off from a roof of an electric suburban train into the Swan river.

Unfortunately we had a regrettable event a few years ago when a new member had purchased and discussed new set with graffiti and several of us (myself included) condemned the scourge, unfortunately he took it as a personal attack which of course it was not but it certainly hilighted polarising views.

Like many I hate graffiti with a vengeance but I also have to accept that "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder.

About a year ago to men were killed by a train while graffiting railway proprty here in the UK. This was generally regarded as rough but appropiate justice.

Here in Ipswich, UK, we can call up the Graffiti team and they come round to clean up any. When I had my model shop, they stopped and cleaned a wall that I hadn't even seen. Out town is quite free of the problem!

I completely agree with the view that un-approved graffiti is a scourge, vandalism and almost always looks like trash. Some places, building owners may invite folks to paint graffitti (there was a court case recently about the ownership of such a surface that was painted at invitation of the owners at some point). In towns in my area, an interesting approach has been taken with the silver galvanized traffic circuit cabinets; they were artistically painted over 100% of the surface with some very interesting scenes. So far those paintings have not been overspayed by vandals. When I seen a nice ICE roll past on someones footage and then there is one car whose entire lower half is covered in graffiti it literately makes me feel ill.

All that said, I've got a small bit of hypercriticality to me as I've purchased one of the electronic switching station buildings that has graffiti applied to one of the walls to place in a yard. I will never put graffiti on the coaches, cars, or locos however. I could tolerate it on the sound protection walls around train yards, especially if the artists put some effort into making something that looked nice rather than their stupid signature/sign. But vandalizing rolling stock is right out.

There are real trains and wagons, that may offend in some form or another.

Trains showing graffiti is one of them,
Perhaps some others are offended by trains carrying military equipment.
Or trains that are en-route to a football match.
Maybe some trains are designated for deportation or for prison purposes.

On the other hand these same trains may be of interest to modellers for many reasons.
I am unable to judge the likes or dislikes of others.

I have always been a hater of graffiti. It is not art, only a lot of #$%&! Growing up in NYC I have seen enough for more than a lifetime.

I will not ever even buy a model with it. Peter. Mellow
