Now it is also better understandable why Märklin will release the ICE 4 in 1:95 only in 2020. Their model doesn't have to have the issues to be a perfect model of the prototype. LOL
Of course 60 errors at 1:95 is not even 1 error, so it wouldn't be too bad ;)

Best regards,

Well. So far we only know of two problems on the ICE4. The pantographs and the computer software.

It's the IC2 cars that have 60 errors.

The ICE4 error with the train's safety computer system takes a long time, due to the regulatory process and testing that has to happen when modifying the safety systems. The systems on these high speed trains rely on a host of different technology than the normal IC, distance, regional, etc trains do. Because of the speeds run, the engineer cannot see the signals in time to make unexpected stops, which is why the signal states are transmitted (via a wire that runs down the center of the tracks on top of the sleepers and balast) to the trains, so they see a display on the console of what signal states to expect down the track before they ever get to the pre-signal or main signals. Other safety systems pertaining to running signals, engineer incapacitation and the like have been around for decades longer but likely also interact with the safety computer in some way that requires extensive testing to be sure the autobraking and other systems work and are not affected by whatever patch they add to fix whatever is causing the current crashes. Life in the IT age.

Meanwhile my employer keeps resetting the Windows 10 setting for default browser to Internet Explorer because some parts of the company have IE only systems they must use, so we all spend time constantly resetting back to Firefox etc after every login. Joy.
