Hi
Came across I would guess quite a rare Faller Railroad Crossing for Marklin and AMS slot cars. Hopefully the link will work Roger

Hmm, claims it hasn't been used - but the St Andrews Cross signs are broken off, and one of the barrier arms also looks broken, and it seems to have a bag of spare parts to fix these. The bearers that the arms sit in when they are down also appear to be missing.

I can't really tell, but the stubs where the St Andrews Crossing signs should be look like an attempt has been made to glue the broken off bits back on.

I guess considering the rarity of this item, US$50 buy it now is probably OK.

Has the seller updated it?, doesn't say unused anywhere that I can see? Does say "not tested" however, Condition C6 / Very Good, I guess for it's age that's probably somewhat fair.

Those crossings are a favourite of mine, (not that you'd think from the photo)... and there are at least two quite different motor designs for those kits, that one shown is the earlier style. I can go into more details on that aspect if there's any interest.

They started out originally as B-4733 from 1963 to 1970 and were the first functional accessory to go with the new AMS roadway system. From 1971 it was renumbered B-176, which is a bit odd because B-176 was already in the program from 1962 as a new item, but without the AMS roadway built in. Appears they rationalised in '71 and stopped using code 4733, but from then the crossing actually appears twice in the next few catalogues, in the general railway accessories section and also in the AMS section, after basic crossing 4731.

An un-built kit of either code typically start at 100 Euro on Ebay, and some quite a bit higher. I've even seen used assembled versions unboxed, sell for more than a box pristine kit listed at the same time and same area - go figure!!

Am I even remotely interested in Faller AMS, even slightly?, you be the judge.... (okay I'll leave now, nobody likes a show-off) LOL LOL Love

had to think there for a minute Marco, because I do have a few empty boxes, or boxes for which I have kits already made.

Fortunately, those two are not among the phantoms and I can only hope they are 100% complete.....
